This is my last resort I'm hoping you are able to help my question is I got genital herpes 6 months ago I've already had 4 outbreaks and I have been getting these itchy red bump all over my body in random spots I've had over 50 over the past 6 months some are small some are big they stay for at least a week they look like bug bites but they are not bites I have been to my pcp, OBGYN, infectious disease specialist, and dermatologist and none of them can figure out what it is and they all say it is not herpes related but I feel like it is because it's started right after I got herpes I had a biopsy done by the dermatologist but it came out negative for herpes so I don't know what they are but I'm pretty sure it's related to the herpes. Could it be from the virus hitting certin neves making them turn into itchy bumps. Sometimes I get dizzy and sometimes I get ringing in my ear and everything sounds so far away I'm not sure if that's related. I also have diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Please help me this is taking over my life. I just want to be ok I have 2 boys that need me. I wish there was a way I could send you pics of these bumps. Also I was on valtex for 3months but stopped cause I thought that might be the reason for the bumps but it's not cause they still came back.

Do they look at all like targets?  There is something called erythema multiforme that is triggered by the herpes virus but are not herpes lesions.  Could you run that idea by the dermatologist?  Are they hive like?  You might also want to consider seeing an allergy - immunology person.  Even though they are related in time to the acquisition of herpes, they aren't necessarily related to herpes though I'm sure it is tempting to come to that conclusion.
How were you diagnosed with genital herpes?
I seriously doubt that these are related to Valtrex use - did things change when  you stopped the Valtrex?

Thank you so much for replying. I just spent the last hr researching erythema multiforme. Well out of the over 50 bumps I did have 3 that looked like targets/bullseye. I was tested for herpes with blood test but I know I have it for sure cause I've had 4 outbreaks. After researching erythema multiforme I'm very scared now since it says it's life threatening and can cause death. Is it bad that I've had so many of the bumps over the past 6months does that mean it's just going to get worse? I couldn't find any test that could be done to test for it. Is there any kind of test I can ask my dermatologist to do to confirm the diagnoses? How do I know it's getting really bad and my life is in danger? They did stop for about 2 weeks after stopping valtex but then came back without me taking valtex so I don't think it's the valtex cause I stopped and I'm still getting them. I have also be having bad back pain down the middle of my back the past 3 days if that has anything to do with any of this.

I have made appointments with my dermatologist and a allergy - immunology doctor for tomorrow. Besides the erythema multiforme is there anything else you can tell me that I can ask them to test/look for?

This could be completely unrelated to herpes, you know - some sort of autoimmune response.
It's good you are clearer about the lack of relationship between Valtrex and the rash.
EM rarely kills anyone, honestly.  I would suggest that you take pictures of these so you can show your clinicians - that can be very helpful.
So I have a weird thing that causes very itchy bumps to come up and they take about a week to go away - then the resolve in groups and come back.  My immunologist/allergist says it is autoimmune and I take a combination of allergy meds and other things and I can keep them away - I'm so glad I found this specialist because it was driving me NUTS.  Biopsies never revealed anything - he could diagnose it by it's presentation.  I don't know if this is anything similar but I'm glad you are seeing those specialists.

Let me know what you find out.  I suspect it is unrelated to herpes myself

Thanks you for your response. Well I did go to both the dermatologist and allergy - immunology doctor last week. The dermatologist said it's not erythema multiforme she said it would look worse if it was that and that I would feel sick. I'm not sure if she's right but she just brushed it off like I was crazy. And then I went to the allergy doctor he couldn't tell what they were by looking at them but he did a Skin Prick Test on my back and the only thing that showed an allergic was dust mites he said I had a very server reaction to the dust mite one. So I was happy and thought maybe that it so I looked up dust mite skin rashes and some did look like like but then I started thinking if I'm very allergic to dust mites then I would be sneezing and have runny nose and watery eyes like allergies but I don't have that so I'm not sure if it's possible to have dust mites and ONLY have a skin reaction and not all the other allergy symptoms. Then I bought a microscope this weekend and started grabbing dust from all over my house but I didn't see and dust mites through the microscope so I guess it's not that. I was also thinking it couldn't be dust mites cause the bumps have been inside like inside my close so not in places that are exposed and not covered by clothing so I'm not sure if I could have a dust mite reaction/bump on my back legs and stomach if I have a shirt and pants on. So I'm back to square one not knowing and I've gotten 5 more since the last msg I sent you. Is there anything anything else you could think of that would cause something like this that could be related to the genital herpes

Wow, I am so sorry, this much be very distressing.  Did the allergy doctor say anything about taking any OTC allergy medicine to see if it would help?  You are a bit out of my area now.

Thank you, yes this is very stressful. Yes he put me on allergy med but the dermatologist had already tried that and it didn't work.  But actually after searching more reading more and looking at more pics of erythema multiforme I'm starting to think that could be it cause I read that the bumps start somewhat big and round and they whelp up a little then flatten after a few days and stay for about a week and sometimes leave a pigment scar and that's what mine do. Also they do have a little dot/hole in the middle like a bite but that could be the target. And they get every red dark red almost purple after a few days. What I just don't know is that is it normal to get so many single one in just random places all over my body or is erythema multiforme more prone to hands feet and face? Right now I have
1 on my middle back
3 on my upper right side of my chest
1 on my upper left side of my chest
1 on my underarm
1 lower back
1 inside upper left thigh
3 around my bellybutton
1 on my foot
The first one in this episode started 2/27 that's the 3 on my upper right side of my chest those have somewhat gone away but are still very pigmanted like redish purple. Does any of this sound more like erythema multiforme to you?

I'm so sorry but I cannot say if the is EM or not.  This forum really isn't equipped for this sort of issue - That assessment really needs to be done by the dermatologist, please continue to visit with them until you get this figured out.  I hope that is very soon!
