[Question #3908] Fading scars for herpes lesions

Hi - I had a primary outbreak in early May, and I had a patch of lesions on my upper thigh. It has been over six weeks, and they are still pretty noticeable. How can I fade these? I have bleaching cream from an esthetician, but not sure if there is a more effective method. Thanks for any ideas!

You had a primary outbreak on your thigh? It is far more likely that this is a recurrence than a primary, but that's not what you are asking me.
The bleaching cream sounds like a good start.  There are certainly other products on the market that you made to reduce the appearance of scars (most unrelated to herpes).  It is true that outbreaks that happen on the thigh, belly or buttocks are more likely to leave scars.  Taking antiviral medicine at this point will not help. Usually these fade a little over time but I would encourage you to investigate the OTC products for reducing the appearance of scars.  You might also consult a dermatologist as there are lasers that are also used for this purpose.

It was the second set of lesions from the primary outbreak.
I will try those items and assume limiting sun exposure will also help.
Thank you.

I'm not sure about limiting sun exposure, but generally, that's always good!
