[Question #5614] HIV transmission

Hello doctors,

I had a hand job from someone and I didn't know her HIV status. She poured some oil and gave a handjob and I sucked her nipples few time during that. Touched her vagina few times and put my finger inside.

What are my chances of getting HIV via handjob. If she has any cuts on her hand is there a possibility

Is there a possibility of exposure since I put my finger inside her pussy and then immediately touched my penis while she was giving me hand job.

I bit the inside of my lip that morning with my teeth, what are my chances of HIV trasmission through that mouth sore since I sucked her nipples.

Any chance of getting it via fingering ( touched it from outside didn't put my finger inside her) her pussy.

I took the HIV RNA Qualitative early Detection test after 13 days(on the 14th day) and it was negative. How accurate is the HIV RNA test after 13 days.

My anxiety is killing me and am planning to to take another test next monday (35th day)

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question.

I just finished answering almost an identical question, i.e. risk of HIV from hand-genital contact. See my reply to question 5612. In addition to no risk from the handjob you received, there was no chance of catching HIV from fingering your partner. As also asked and answered in the other question, presence or absence of cuts on her hands, your hands, or anywhere else makes no difference. There is also never any risk of HIV from oral contact with skin, including breasts and nipples. I'll also point out that the chance your partner had HIV probably is under 1 in a thousand. HIV is a lot rarer is sexually active women than many persons assume.

For those easons, I would have recommended against the HIV RNA test you had. That said, that test at 13 days was about 90% valid. That doesn't mean there is a 10% chance you have HIV. In fact, it lowers your chance of having HIV from maybe 1 in a billion to ten times lower to 1 in 10 billion. There is simply no realstic chance you have HIV from this event, and no further testing is needed. But if you go ahead withi another test, don't have another HIV test. An antigen-antibody (combo, "4th generation") blood test will be more accurate. The anticipated negative result, in combination with the RNA test already done, will be 100% reliable.

I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Thanks Dr HHH, i think i need to find a way to calm myself.
I tell myself that how would I get HIV since I didn't even have any kind of sex with her. But then i think like what if I get HIV over this incident and I transmit to my partner.

Thanks for your  quick response.

They will be negative. If positive, it will be necessary to expllore other possible exposures not mentioned above.---

I am waiting anxiously for the results. that was the only exposure i had. I was really scared and worried about below

Is there a possibility of exposure since I put my finger inside her pussy and then immediately touched my penis while she was giving me hand job.

I bit the inside of my lip that morning with my teeth, what are my chances of HIV trasmission through that mouth sore since I sucked her nipples( if she is lactating).

Threads are closed after two follow-up comemnts and replies, and we're already beyond that limit. I'll leave it open for you to post your test results, but I'll have no further commetns or advice until then -- and really nothing more to say if your test results are negatiive, which surely they will be. In he meantime, reread my comments above, which should be reassuring.---

I received the result today and its Non Reactive - this was done 29th day. Can I consider this conclusive and stop worrying about it. Still waiting on RNA results might get it tomorrow.

It is not possible for the RNA test to be positive if the AgAb result is negative at 29 days. That test also will be negative. The combination of the results you already have is conclusive and indeed you can stop worrying about it and move on.---
