[Question #10003] Update on earlier question

Hi docs, just wanted to update you both.
I spoke to the pathology lab that ran my samples and they confirmed my vein draw test (taken 7 weeks post exposure), was a 4th generation antigen/antibody test.
I separately took Dr HHH’s advice and contacted the sexual health hotline in Sydney. Couple of points - the nurse I spoke to said that the “official” advice was to test at 3 months….but then hinted that a 7 week test was for all intents and purposes conclusive.
When I then mentioned the exposure was cunnilingus she flatly stated that this was zero risk and no testing was necessary.
All in all, these two phone calls have calmed me down somewhat. I’ve got a follow up GP appointment booked for next week should I wish to test again, but will see how my mind feels over the next week or so. I always get anxious in the lead up to testing and while awaiting results, so may cancel.
Thank you both for your patience with me, I appreciate it must get tiring repeating the same answers again and again because clients have picked up on a specific wording etc

I'm not sure what you are hoping for or expecting with these new queries. Honestly, I see no question here -- just that you have found my previous advice is supported by the experts you contacted locally. I'm glad to hear you have "calmed down".
I see no need for further discussion.

Hi docs, just to keep my anxiety at bay, final questions as follows (I know you’ve answered already) but I just wanted to triple check I understood correctly.
1) is my 49 day 4th generation test 100% conclusive, or is it somewhere above 90%) REGARDLESS of symptoms?
2) can I ignore Australian websites advice that ALL default to 4 months as the ‘gold standard’?
I just wish the 6 week advice was adopted by all agencies world wide…
Thanks

…I mean 3 months for Australian advice, not 4

2) can I ignore Australian websites advice that ALL default to 4 months as the ‘gold standard’? That's what I would do; and apparently so would the sexual health hotline advisor you spoke with.
There's no way there will ever be 100% agreement from all available expert resources. Just rely on the science -- and the reasoned, science based advice you have had from this forum, your doctors, and the SH hotline.
