[Question #10059] pain testicle

Hi Doctor,
At the end of April, I got massage/handjob by a fully clothed lady. After that, I spent a lot of time examining myself and even opening my urethra to see if there was any redness inside.
At the end of May, my doctor gave me doxycycline for my skin. The next day, the evening after working on my yard and cycling (about 20 minutes), I started to feel discomfort in my right testicle. This discomfort isn't constant, but it's particularly noticeable when I sit for long periods and wear tight boxers. The epididymitis is sensitive to touch. It's been over two weeks and no change. I have no symptoms other than pain in my testicle. I have no discharge and no pain when urinating.
I consult Dr. Google on Monday and when I saw that it could be epididymitis and that the main cause was STD, I panicking.
However, having been on Doxy for over 2 weeks, I figure that if the cause was an STD, the symptoms should have disappeared by now.
I'd like your opinion on this please
Thank you very much!

Welcome to our form and thanks for your question. I’ll be glad to comment and hope that you will find my response reassuring.
Receipt of masturbation (hand jobs) are no risk sexual encounters. Specifically, there are no STI‘s transmitted through masturbation received from another person, even when genital secretions may be on that person’s hands or if they have cuts or scratches on their hands. Still an entirely no risk event. Your testicular discomfort is certainly not an STI related to the encounter you described.
There are many other causes of testicular discomfort. I suggest you explore those alternative causes with your doctor, but I can assure you they are not the result of an STI acquired from receipt of masturbation.
I hope this information is helpful to you. EWH.

Hello Dr Hook,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
Being married and a hypochondriac, I always refuse handjobs when I have a massage. However, I agreed this time and I bitterly regret it. That's why I've been watching far too closely for symptoms and panicking as soon as I notice the slightest thing in the genital area since my massage.
Being uncircumcised, after having manipulated my penis too much, probably with unclean hands, in the 2 weeks following the massage, I had a little cracking redness on my foreskin which resolved itself with a few days of clotrimazole. I have sometime this problem and my doctor told me to take this cream if necessary a few years ago.
From what you say, and you're an expert, I have no reason to worry about the risk of STDs. I find that very reassuring because, after going on Dr Google, I was affraid of gonorrhea because I read that doxycycline alone does not cure this infection. Instead of Google, I should have come to your site instead. I would have a quick and reassuring answer by an expert.
Last thing, do you think that by continuing taking doxycycline, I can mislead my doctor's diagnosis when I go to see him?
Thank you very much and I wish you a good day!

Dr. Google is, unfortunately, often misleading. Even being uncircumcised, there is no risk.
The doxycycline has activity against a variety of bacteria including many which cause STIs. Be sure to let your doctor know that you are taking it but if anything, it should be reassuring that this is not an STI. EWH

Last question for my case. When I was going for this massage, I had an eczema rash on my thigh. I was taking Mometasone cream at this moment. Since that time, my eczema is cured.
Despite this rash, for what you said previously, I think I can continue to consider this event that is always no risk?
Thank you for your time and precious advice!

Neither the rash, nor your use of a topical steroid medication change your risk (or my assessment) in any way. You’re in the clear. No concerns whatsoever.
As you know, this will complete this thread. Take care, EWH
