Test

Sorry I am back. On April 16 I met a gal. I fingered her vagina and received a 20 second bj.
I tested negative for hiv with alere rapid duo 43 and 53 day past exposure. Also neg for Hcv 43 days past risk.
On June 17 I met a girl and kissed her and also licked her breast. I checked my fingers prior and only saw the tiniest nick on the knuckle. I used this hand.
On jun 23 I felt nervous & had 2 bouts of diarrhea which was gone by bed.
This past Sunday and Monday I had a little congestion, scratchy throat and very minor body ache. Could be allergies.
Yesterday I had a white plaque or small coating / sore on my inner cheek. It didn’t hurt. I scraped it off. I also had to tiny dots below teeth. Today all is fine. I have had thrush issues before.
Do I need more testing for risk 1?
Do I need testing for risk 2?
When is to late for hiv Ars?
Did sore I describe sound like thrush?
When is hiv 2 ruled out 6 or 8 week?
I have read Dr h say you need to wait a few days after symptoms to test to find out if it’s Ars for hiv 1 and 2 I have also read if you have symptoms you can test immediately and find out if you have ars hiv 1 or 2. What’s correct?
Could I test today less then a day after sore in mouth, 2 days after nose and throat and body-ache issue, 5 days after diarrhea to see if I had ars ? (it would be 11 days from 2nd risk)
Can I go back with ex sagely?

Welcome back, but I don't really get it. I see nothing in these questions that wasn't answered in your recent discussion with Dr. Hook; or at least the answers should be obvious from that discussion. Therefore my replies are succinct. You were not at risk at all for HIV from the events described previously with Dr. Hook or the new one described here. You do not need any testing for HIV.
---
Your symptoms do not suggest ARS, which does not cause nasal congestion or white patches in the mouth or a sore of the kind you describe. It does not sound like a yeast infection (thrush), which in any case doesn't commonly occur with ARS, and diarrhea is never the main symptom. As Dr. Hook said, typical ARS is fever, sore throat, enlarged lymph nodes, and fever; without at least 3 of these, you can be certain you don't have it; and it's no different for HIV1 vs HIV2. You do not need testing for HIV of either type. ARS onset is pretty much always 1-2 weeks after exposure, never more than 3 weeks. HIV2 is almost absent in the US and other industrialized countries, but the standard antibody or AgAb tests usually are positive by 6 weeks and always by 8 weeks.
You're over-interpreting stuff you have found online or elsewhere. Time to positive testing is unrelated to symptoms. If you test at all (which I recommend you not do), timing after exposure is the only consideration, regardless of symptoms. You can and should continue sex with your regular partner without putting her at risk of HIV or any other STD from the events described.

Let me clarify one point. Although time to testing for HIV is determined primarily by exposure time, if symptoms are caused by ARS, HIV testing always is positive within a day or two. It isn't HIV itself that causes ARS symptoms, but the immune response to the virus, which is indicated by antibody. It is not possible to have ARS symptoms with a negative antibody test. So if symptoms are present, a negative antibody test proves that HIV is not the cause.---

Dr.
Thank you for your fact based response. It calmed me down.
I am a male rape survivor so some things cause me added anxiety. I do take meds and have a counselor.
1. I tested today with a alere duo. It was negative. This was 59 days post first risk. Can I say I ruled out hiv infection from the 20 second bj and fingering?
2. Todays test was 11 days from second risk(fingering and kissing). It was 3 days from when my very minor aches and slight clogged nose and irritated throat started but LESS then 24 hours from the mouth plaque/ coating appeared. Would todays test rule out Ars from this risk or must I go back for additional test?
I just want to resume my life with my ex. If I suggest condoms a red flag will go up.
Thanks for your time and patience.

Thanks for the information about your anxiety -- very understandable given that background. Still, you should work to take an objective slant on all this: do your best to separate your emotional/anxiety reactions from an analytical perspective based on science. And thanks for the thanks: I'm glad my comments are helping.
1. Yes: A negative AgAb ("4th generation", "duo", "combo") HIV blood test is conclusive any time 45 days or more after exposure. (In addition to it being a zero risk event for HIV that didn't need testing anyway!)
2. This also was no risk for HIV. You can expect a negative test result. The test itself will not be proof you weren't infected, but a negative result will mean your symptoms are not caused by ARS.
I strongly urge you to continue your normal life with your main partner, without condoms. You do not have HIV.
Perhaps you also would like to know that in the nearly 20 years of this forum and our preceding one, with thousands of questions from persons worried about a new HIV infection, not one has yet reported that they eventually tested positive. You will not be the first. If and when that finally happens, undoubtedly it will be from a truly risky exposure, not an event like yours -- which was no more risky for HIV than shaking hands.

Dr.
Thanks for everything. Truly. It’s been tough. I’ll take your advice.
I was going to save my last follow up but
The response you provided to my second question (below)confused me.
“2. Todays test was 11 days from second risk(fingering and kissing). It was 3 days from when my very minor aches and slight clogged nose and irritated throat started but LESS then 24 hours from the mouth plaque/ coating appeared. Would todays test rule out Ars from this risk or must I go back for additional test?”
I had the test today. It was negative. Did it rule out the yesterdays mouth sore and Sundays congestion and throat issue and aches was not Ars or do I need another test to prove that?
Thanks for dealing with my issues and helping.

Sorry I missed that you already have your test result. But you're splitting hairs; obviously that makes no difference. My reply makes it clear that no matter when you have the result -- today or some other time -- it means your symptoms are not ARS. I also have already said you do not need any more tests for HIV; you could not have caught it!
That concludes this thread. I'm glad to have helped and appreciate your thanks. But please note the forum policy against repeated anxiety driven questions. This being your second about the same kinds of risks and HIV testing, it should be your last on these topics. Please move forward in confidence you do not have HIV. If you continue to have concerns about it, I would suggest two things: First, re-read both this discussion and the previous one with Dr. Hook. Second, address your anxieties about all this with your therapist.
Best wishes and stay safe (as you have been).
