[Question #10186] Oral Gonorrhea

Hi experts. Thanks in advance for your help.  On June 15 I engaged in unprotected oral sex (me giving and them giving) to a TS sex worker.  About a month later (this past Friday) I started experiencing a sore throat and minor trouble swallowing.  Then I got what I might ordnarily consider typcal cold/allergy symptoms - sore throat, cough, sneezing, runny nose.

I’m wondering what the chances are this is Oral Gonn?  How common is this?  I see OG has sore throat and swallowing issues but I don’t typically see runny nose and sneezing/coughing in the various online sources I read. Am I overthinking this?

Welcome to our Forum and thanks for your questions.  I’ll be glad to comment.  Unlike penile Gonorrhea which is typically symptomatic, oral Gonorrhea is typically asymptomatic.  Further, if you were going to develop symptoms at any site following the exposures you describe, they would typically occur within a few days of exposure, not nearly a month later.  Thus your throat symptoms are most unlikely to be due to Gonorrhea.  EWH ---
