[Question #10190] Worry

Just wondering on your guys experiences what does this seem like or does it seem like anything ? Been dealing with this penis redness and itchying off and on, it does seem better now but kinda seems red , but maybe I am hyper focused on it. Had protected sex but unprotected oral from a sex worker about a year ago, seemed like within 24/36 hrs I noticed the tip of my penis was itchy maybe. I think maybe I had some irritation from the sex or something. I talked to a few online doctors and was told to try fungal creams and I did try various different ones, I even tried a spray which looking back probably wasn’t a good idea. I did sti testing at 53 days for everything but herpes and an urineaylis and that all came back good. Then probably few months later my penis got really red I think from the creams, and I was prescribed a steroid cream and it seemed to peel the next day. I did get tested for hsv igG antibody’s at 19 weeks and that came back all good. I have never had a cold sore but I worry that maybe the igG test missed an hsv1 infection or Something ? Is that possiable? I never had a blister after 2-10 days and it’s been a year now and still nothing just some redness and itchy at times but seems ok now, just maybe some redness but think it’s from sweat and local irration , just really wanna forget this.

I am going to go on and answer your question on this occasion. Any of us could do so.

Nearly a month ago. I informed you that there was no evidence that you had acquired any STI from the encounter you are concerned about. Ms. Warren has similarly tried to allay your concerns regarding having acquired genital herpes through the encounter. In my opinion, you are suffering from what we have come to call  “genitally focused anxiety” based on an encounter you have come to regret.  My sincere advice is to stop wasting your time and money on testing and further questions on this Forum. The encounter you described was very, very low risk and subsequently the evidence you have gathered through testing has backed that up, providing strong evidence that there is no STI involved. It is time for you to stop focusing on minor changes in the appearance of your penis and to move forward without concern.  I say this out of concern for you and your well-being. Nothing more. EWH.

Ok I know your right and normally I am not like this, just when Terri said to do the western blot if I was worried kinda set me on a emotional path and I think I took it out of context. I don’t wanna do the blot or test anymore but I also don’t want to infect my parter so that is why I keep pressing about typical symptoms. Just crazy how I blew this out of proportion for a year I actually believed I had a sti. Just the symptoms herpes confuses me it’s like you can have some or have none and with my penis being red and itchy after an encounter with a sex worker had me at high alert. I am sorry I am like this I just wanted strong data so I could convince my self for sure I didn’t have it without doing the blot and I know I could move on.

The data that you do not have herpes is strong-the absence of symptoms, your negative test so far and the low risk of your exposure. All combine to mean that you should be confident that you did not acquire herpes from the encounter you have described. You’ve let things go get out of hand, I believe the Terry answered you trying to address your concerns that you might have herpes but if you read her replies, once again, I think you’ll see that the tone of her messages is  skeptical.

I hope the message I provided will help you to move on. EWH.
