[Question #10266] Hepatitis c and hiv

Hi, I want to ask you two questions. 1- i did my shopping, half an hour later I opened the package and ate biscuits. There was a red stain on the bag that looked like blood. There may be dry blood on my hand and on the biscuit. There is no wound on my mouth, but sometimes my gums bleed if I play with toothpicks. 2-the bag I ordered touched my two-day-old wound, but my wound was not actively bleeding, it was just wet. There was a red stain on the bag again, water had been poured into the bag, and another dry blood had been soaked. He touched my wound. I washed my hands, blood and water mixed and flowed from my wound. I know hiv is impossible, but has hepatitis c passed and do I need a test from these two events

My second question is if the employee who brought the order has blood on his hands and gets it on the bag. I picked up the bag after 10-20 seconds. If a bloody bag touches my non-bleeding but wet wound, will I get hiv or hepatitis C. I need a test

Welcome back to our forum although I must say I’m sorry that you felt the need. The answers to the questions that you ask today are the same as the answers to questions that you asked of me 11 months ago on the forum. HIV, hepatitis, including hepatitis C, and other Blood-borne pathogens are not transmitted through contact with inanimate objects. This is true, whether the blood, or for that matter secretions, are wet or dry. Thus, if there were infected blood which was on a bag, a piece of paper, or other object (which is unlikely to start with) and then you touched or touched a recent open wound, it would still not put you at risk for acquisition of HIV, hepatitis C, or other infections, There is no need for concern, nor any need for any testing related to the incidents that you described.
As I also told you 11 months ago, I believe that you have misunderstanding of how these infections are transmitted and worry entirely too much about them. I suggest you speak with a counselor about these persisting, unwarranted concerns. EWH.

If I have a bleeding wound, it may be theoretical, but if my wound does not bleed and is not deep, you say that I should not be afraid after that. I don't need to be afraid anymore thanks
