Hello, my English is not good. I had a risk with a friend (female) vaginal sex I am the man, this was July 19th at 2 am more or less. She has a open sexual life, but she understood my fear and she took a hiv 4th generation test which result was 0.05 and syphilis negative VDRL. Today I took a test 4th generation by chemiluminescence result 0.23, I always had 0.11.-0.05, this is my first time with that number, this test was made at day 27th. My test was useless? My number is related with HIV? Please help.

Sorry, maybe I didn't explain well, she took her 4th generation test the day after the risk, that means the 20th July

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your questions.  I'll be glad to comment.  The encounter that you describe did not put you at risk for either HIV or syphilis.  Persons with negative tests do not transmit infection (the internet has incorrect information on this fact, don't be misled).

As for your tests, at 27 days more than 99% of persons who acquire HIV will have positive tests.  We have never seen a person with a negative test at 27 days go on to become positive. Thus, your negative test is effectively proof that you were not infected at the encounter that you describe.

The fact that the numerical value of your test was 0.23 and have been lower in the past is not a reason for concern.  Negative values tend to fluctuate.  Your test is negative.  Believe it

I hope that this information is helpful.  EWH

The terms you use may not distinguish one kind of test from another. A rapid test is a test that provides an answer in 30 minutes or less. Chemiluminescent tests can be rapid. Either way, you should believe your test results and move forward. EWH.---

Sorry doctor, I didn't understand well, I have read that fourth generation rapid test was conclusive at 12 weeks.  I believe that inmunocromatography was a rapid test for fourth generation or third generation. I thought chemiluminescence was a laboratory test (my test only took like 10 hours to have a result) that's my fear. I understand that I have no risk but in case I have another risk I would like to know how to difference a rapid fourth generation test and a laboratory fourth generation test. My test only mentioned antibodies+ antigen p24. Methodology chemiluminescence. Result 0.23 below 1.00 no reactive

I'm not sure where you read this but it is incorrect.  Any and all fourth generation, combination HIV antibody/p24 antigen tests are entirely conclusive at any time more than 6 weeks.  It is not necessary to wait for 12 weeks for conclusive results. This is true whether the 4th generation test is a rapid test or done in a laboratory.  The term "chemiluminescence" refers to the chemistry used in the test.

We provide up to three responses to each client's questions.  You have received 4 responses.  Therefore this thread will be closed shortly without further responses.  Believe your tests and stay of the internet which will only confuse you and provide incorrect infromation.

There should be no need for further questions.  EWH
