[Question #10326] All vacuatainer holder re use for blood draw safe

Hello doctors thank you for this service
1) I went for blood draw from vein procedure they used a butterfly needle and sucked by blood using a blood collection tube that has vaccum in it
My question is vacutainer holder was re used from previous patient before me
are ALL vacutainer holders designed to be re used with any kind of needles( that do not have safety mechanism in them that prevent re use ) which ever nurse wants to use during blood draw procedure ?
There is no single use vacutainer holder as you have said in your forum
1b Even if blood was on or anywhere inside the vacutainer holder it’s still no risk for hiv hepatitis c or or stds any other blood borne infections
Its fine nurse will simply reuse it during blood draw NO need to clean the vacutainer holder between patients
as its allowed for vacutainer holder can touch table or glove even If blood get on vacutainer holder from these objects also
1c my main problem is what is the vacutainer holder ? it’s plastic piece I’ll share random links for you
See link 1 and 2
And to clear one needle goes into my vein and the other needle which is rubber covered i believe goes into the vacuatiner holder so even if blood touched the rubber needle inside vacutainer holder it’s not a risk

2) i Ihave final question :
Needle sticks from hollow needle do not cause hiv or hepatitis c or stds or any kind of blood borne infections
even to health care workers (nurse , doctor ) when health care workers get needle stick immediately
when withdrawing needle from patient during injection or blood draw procedure ?
the ANSWER to this is given to me by US CERTIFIED trained Proffesionals they have ASSURED me that needle sticks do not cause any blood borne infections even to health care workers as needle sticks do not have the ability to inject blood into the body
Which is needed to cause blood borne infections
I I understand that different doctors have different views but out of respect would you agree with my trained Proffesional as they have put an end to this fear of mine and I can MOVE ON .

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your questions. I'll be glad to comment. The bottom line is that having blood drawn by a trained medical professional in a medical setting is a no risk event. Vacutainer holders of the sort that you have provided links to are designed to safely be reused without contaminating the specimens or infecting the persons who are having blood drawn. Please remember:
A. The needle which penetrates the skin to draw blood is sterile and designed to be used a single time.
B. The flow of blood into a vacutainer tube is FROM the person INTO the tube, not into the person, therefore there is no risk of introducing infectious material.
Regarding, there is a risk of transmitting infection from one person to another is a hollow point needle which has been used on another, infected person is then stuck into a second person. This process can transmit small amounts of blood to cause infection. Less than 1% of needle stick expsoures to infected persons lead to transmission of infection and most persons are not infected. The risk of a needle stick, particularly one which transmits infection from one person to another is vanishingly low.
I hope that this information is helpful. Please, do not be concerned about the risk of infection from needle sticks in medical settings. EWH

Sorry delay thanks for reply
But on vacutainer holders you have not understood or replied to questions so this MAY SOUND REPETIVE please clear for me
1) can you reply to point 1 and 1b above ? From me previous post ?
If you see above in point 1 previous post I asked
I know they are two needle in buttery needle set
used for blood draw I know they are new
But as mentioned in point 1 above
Can all KINDS of vacutainer holder be re used on ALL KINDS of needle
Because we don’t have safety mechanism needle that you have in the usa that prevent re use
But I am assuming it doesn’t matter ?
1b) when you said vacutainer holder are re used it means no cleaning is needed between patients the same vacutainer holder is used over and over again on different patients for blood draw
And I asked EVEN IF BLOOD was in the vacutainer holder its no risk for hiv hepatitis b or hepatitis c etc
And the reason is the the needle that fits into the vacutainer holder is covered with rubber ?
Can you explain ? Can you see point 1b of my previous post

3) I have understood your reply on needle sticks however it doesn’t help
To move FORWARD can you see what my USA trained Proffesional with decades of experience
are saying on needle sticks from hollow needles as they are telling me that no one gets hiv hepatitis b or hepatitis c or stds or other blood borne infections
From needle sticks injury from hollow needle even to health care worker especially when they remove needle from vein from patient during injection or blood draw and health care worker such as nurse doctor get a needle stick
They have told me to let go of this fear now and there advice will not change
So dr hook out of respect will you agree with them as I mentioned in point 2 of my previous post

These are entirely repetitive questions which resemble questions that you have asked in the past using another user name. You need to put your fears aside and realize that HIV and other blood borne infections cannot be transmitted through vacutainer holders, even when they have been reused. Additional repetitive questions will result in this thread, then closed immediately without further responses and no further questions will be excepted. EWH.---

1) dear mr hook I hope you are fine
But I do need a reply sir on questions I have read on other threads
My final clarification is this
When you say vacutainer holder are re used that means even if BLOOD was on vacutainer holder
From previous use
And the same vacutainer holder is re used OVER and over again on different patients with no cleaning needed for blood draw
?
1b) also it’s nurse is allowed to keep vacutainer holder on table right the vacutainer holder can touch blood on surface etc
When re used for blood draw
So it’s fine then
No risk for hiv hepatitis c b etc
1c) the test results do not get effected as well ? When re using the vacutainer holder
2) MY final clarification is clear
You still have not to what my my trained professionals on needle sticks
I have been ordered by them
That needle sticks from hollow needle sticks do not cause hiv hepatitis c or hepatitis b or stds or any blood borne infections
Even to health care workers when they get needle Stick immediately from Patient when with drawing needle
Because needle sticks from hollow needles don’t have the ability to inject blood into the body
I WILL BE EXTREMELY HAPPY ! IF
YOU AGREE with my trained proffesionals
As it will allow me TO MOVE FORWARD

This is another entirely repetitive question. The answers will be very brief. You should not return to the forum with further questions, or so-called clarifications of your concerns. They are not necessary. Your concerns are unwarranted, brief, specific answers, before closing this thread:
1. Even if there was blood from previous use in a Vacutainer holder, there would be no risk of contamination from reuse of the holder. Please note that if visible blood were present it would be most unusual for a trained healthcare professional to continue to use it. However, even if it was reused, there would be no risk of contamination or infection for subsequent Users.
1B. Repetitive. Correct, still no risk.
1c. Repetitive, correct! No affect on test results.
2. This has been answered previously. There is a small but true risk of transmission of blood-borne infections when a needle previously used on a person with infection, then sticks another person. The risk is very very small.
This completes this thread. Please do not return to the forum. EWH.
