Hello and thank you in advance.
I had been seeing this girl for a month or so there has been 3 protected sexual encounters ( condom ) during each of these times she preformed oral a couple mins each session. No condom during these. I told her since we was starting to be exclusive let's both get tested and we did mine came back all negative z hers came back negstive for everything except hsv1.
She said she forgot all about it but has had cold sores since a kid and hasn't had one in 3ish years. So it slipped her mind.
My questions are.
If no cold sores in 3 years what are the Olds ill get it from kissing her ? She was under the assumption no cold sore = no worries.
2. I read hsv1 can turn to genital and I'm worried thags what is gonna happen.. how often does this happen,?
3. I read I can test 12 days after encounter is this correct.
4. Ive also seen it says if you don't have symptoms in 10 days ur good. But how can this be since most can have no symptoms

Forgot to add I'm 29 year old circumcised male ( Ive seen supposedly that helps ) she is 30 years old if age matters

First of all, 47% of everyone in the US between the ages of 14 and 49 are positive for HSV 1, so incredibly common - most who have it don't know.

That doesn't happen. What you might have read is that oral HSV 1 can be transmitted to the genital of someone else through giving them oral sex - it will then stay HSV 1 in the genitals of that person and recur very infrequently.
3. I read I can test 12 days after encounter is this correct.
It is not correct, and I would not recommend testing due to the high rate of false positive for HSV 2 on the test and the fact that the test misses 30% of HSV 1. I would not recommend any testing before 6 weeks, if you insis upon doing it.

Well, both are true. Most people who are going to have symptoms with a new infection will have them within 2-10 days, but many people don't have symptoms when they acquire infection, so both are true.

I see you say the chances of getting hsv1 is incredibly low from kissing , but yes i did mean to word it as im worried about the oral I received turning to genital hsv1 what are the chances of that? i spoke with her today she clarified its been about 3 years from a OB and we agreed no more oral. the previous times of oral was 3 encounters..
should i ask her IGG or does it matter? i have geographic tounge so on top of that i keep looking for new things is there anything to look out for? ive been getting something similar to a tingle feeling but when i look its just normal ulcer type geographic on the inside of my lips! ( white borders goes away in like 2 days )
i do plan on testing the lab near me has a herpeselect test and claims to be 97-99% accurate 4-6 week post exspore and 99% 6 weeks after does this sound right to you? i havent had any symptoms as of yet that ive noticed.
after talking to her she still thinks no sore means no worries but she is respecting the no oral from here on out as i dont want it gentially. and she refuses the meds to help,

Sorry had to cut last message short the baby woke up I ment to add this to the previous response.
How often does it occur inside the mouth , like I said I've been having what resembles ulcers inside the lips ranging in sizes but they all tend to have a white border around them and I've read if it has a white border it's not hsv? Most time they start has a tiny bump and go to the ulcer and dissappear in 2 days average.
And do you feel since we was both negative for hsv2 , that when I do test I only test for type ?

HSV 1 can show up in the mouth but it isn't common. If you have ulcers in your mouth, you may wish to have them swab tested for HSV since that is your concern. They are very likely canker sores, however.
The statistics that you see have been shown to be inaccurate. If your concern is HSV 1 only, that test misses 30% of HSV 1 infections compared to the western blot. So testing for HSV 1 with that test may or may not give you the information that you seek.

Thanks for all the replies since this is my last question i want to try and make it more detailed here i was seeing a girl this all started a few months back and i had tiny red dots on my tounge which eventually led to white areas on tounge which was believed to be thrush turns out it wasn't and told me i had geographic tounge.. further more since then ive been getting those ulcers inside my lips and recently a sore throat which has a ulcer looking thing back near the uvula/soft palate which makes that one side of my throat sore to swollow ive captured pics of it but it goes away in like 2 days or so so never been able to get a swab done on it been scared its due to hsv1 / herpetic stomatitis.. i have had no noticeable lesions outside my lips or anything
and all the " ulcers" inside my lips / under my tounge tend to go away in less than 48 hours.. ive been taking multiviatamin and lysine after reading if its due to this it helps..
my ENT took a biopsy of a spot inside my cheek waiting on results due to that. she is baffled at how fast the areas show then dissapear.

1. does the throat sound like herpitic stomatitis or any form of hsv?
2. does anything i mentioned sound like hsv?
3 as far as exsposure to the girl that said she has hsv1 but hasnt had a cold sore in 3 years. what are the olds the oral encounters will lead to hsv1 genitally? i remember you stated the chance of getting it from kissing her was very low.
4. ive also been having like a chaffed lip feeling had dry skin flakes maybe its due to that and not hsv i trimmed my facial hair and put lotion on to see if it helps.
5. even tho the ulcer thing dissapeared fast today i still plan on getting a swab done since it was visable last night it never seems to ooze , scab , or anything.. i thought hsv did all of that. if it was infact hsv how accurate is the swab
6im going to reach out to your clinic in regards to the western blot.
7. any chance to leave the thread open till my swab and biopsy comes bacK

Not really

If she hasn't had a cold sore in three years, the risk is very low.

Hard to say, but be sure the swab is a PCR, not a culture
