[Question #10377] Oral exposure

Sorry to return, but I am here with a new exposure. Approximately 8 days ago received semi protected oral at a massage parlor. By semi protected I mean a plastic covering was used. Afterwards my penis did seem dry and as if nothing came in contact with anything and seems that the protection ultimately did its job. As I’m sure you know based off my previous posts, I have symptoms that are indicative of CPPS/Prostatitis. I have still been feeling those symptoms over time and feel they are worse now which I am hoping to attribute to my anxiety over the event. My questions are as follows:
What STI’s should I be concerned about? Should I be worried about receipt of HIV or HSV2( have had hsv1 for years)

Should I get any tests done? I feel that this was a relatively safe exposure and don’t really want to get tested unless you think I should get a baseline?

Thank you again and sorry to return. I guess my main concerns are still HIV and HSV2

The encounter was a virtually no risk encounter.  It was protected and no one has ever been should to acquire HIV from receipt of oral sex.  Further, when HSV is acquired from receipt of oral sex, which is relatively rare, it is virtually always HSV-1 which you already have.  There are no STIs you need to worry about, there is no need for testing.

You have started prior questions with similar "apologies".  Two months ago, a s well as 4 months are, I made the following recommendation "My recommendation, made our of concern for you, is that you need to discuss your inability to accept that you do not have an STI or HIV with a trained counselor.  Such counseling is not to suggest you are crazy or ill, but to indicate that you need professional help in determining why you cannot move on.  you are clearly not succeeding in your own efforts."  This remains my recommendation.  You need help in addressing your anxiety and apprehensions about you sexuality and sexual health.  EWH

Dr. Hook, I appreciate your concern and thank you for your response. I am dealing with the anxiety of it all separately and I purchased this question because of a new exposure. I will stick to the new exposure. I have had severe pain in the testicles and pain in the genital area seems as if it’s coming from within the penis. I wouldn’t describe it as burning more so just very painful discomfort. No sores or lesions and the pain has been worse within the last 48 hours. Just to provide a little more detail of the exposure it wasn’t a condom that was used it was more so like a plastic covering like seran wrap almost that appeared to do its job. I am sticking with your advice to not get tested but do these symptoms show any sign of any STI’s? The pain is to the point where I was considering going ti the hospital. None of this makes sense and I’m praying that it’s all related to CPPS

I understand that plastic wrap rather than a condom was used.  This is not uncommon with oral sex and is effective for prevention of STIs.

The symptoms you describe are really not suggestive of any STI.  I agree that this is far more likely to be a manifestation of your CPPS.
