[Question #10467] Spoke with my doctor.

Good morning doctors. I am aware that I was asked not to come on here again with repeat anxiety related questions, however. This has something do with my doctor.

I spoke to my doctor yesterday. As you already know, I have high risk cervical hpv but negative for 16/18.
I asked her about transmission.
She indeed said that if my partner is to finger me that there is a risk that his fingers could be infected with my high risk cervical strain even if I do not have any warts, etc.

This doesn't make any sense to me at all. Lol especially after your assessment. She also indicated that soap and water does not remove any residual HPV on the hands and that hand sanitizer is ineffective as well.

Why is there such a vast difference in medical opinions? Surely the same type of HPV I have genitally is not prone to infected non genital skin...I would hope.

Also you should know I am being treated for my anxiety regarding a plethora of things, however this difference in medical opinions is very confusing for the lay person.

Thanks.

Your doctor is incorrect.  She may not be a specialist in STIs or her knowledge may be out of date.

Please go back and review your previous thread.  Each of your questions is answered there.  EWH

You're right. She's probably a quack. Anyways.
I understand, the actual fingers do not become infected with HPV, just surface contamination. Which can be washed away with soap and water. Right? After your response you may close the thread.

Correct.  I’m glad you understand. She may not be a quack, just out of debt or misinformed, but without a doubt, she’s incorrect.EWH ---
