Good afternoon Terri

I had a concern few months ago i made a bad decision and saw a sex worker i am a male btw . We had protected sex but i gave her unprotected oral sex. About 2 days later i got a sore throat and started feeling sick and slight fever. On 4 day i noticed i had numerous  painful sores on the back of my throat nothing on the lips or tongue it looked like herpangina they healed pretty fast i never thought about it until now that it could have been herpes. My wife of 6 years has oral HSV-1. I got blood test done about year and half ago twice few months apart and i was negative for both strains i was suprised i was negative for hsv1 knowing my wife of 6 years has hsv-1 and we kiss daily and lots of sex but i am also aware that the test could have been a false negative. Im wondering what is the chance i got oral HSV-2 from the sex worker she didnt have any active sores that i noticed. But aware that she can spread when none are present.

Another question i have why is it that condom reduces 96% chance from male to female but only 60% from female to male? What does the male have that a woman dosent that makes condoms less effective ?

The risk of getting oral HSV 2 is low - this virus strongly prefers the genital area and oral HSV 2 is rarely seen. It is not impossible, I have seen oral HSV 2,  but it is uncommon for sure.
The reason condoms are more effective at protecting women is because almost all viral shedding from men is from the shaft of the penis.  So covering it all up is very effective.
For women parts of the labia can still come in contact with parts of the penis that are uncovered, at the base.  Also, vaginal secretions may carry virus and those secretions can kind of go lots of places during sex.    Does that help?

Also regarding your statement on condoms not preventing transmission from woman to male, Does that mean that the virus can enter through the pubic area skin? I though i had read earlier where you said that skin is to thick and usually enters through mucus membrane ?

Your symptoms do not sound herpetic, no.
I didn't say condoms didn't prevent transmission from women to men.  I said they are less effective at preventing transmission.  It is not because the virus enters through pubic area, no, the skin it too thick for that.  It is that a condom sometimes does not cover the entire penis  and men sometimes get infected at the base of the penis where the condom does not fully cover.  This is my final response on your post - I see that you have numerous posts on this site.  I hope these answers can help to put your mind at rest.
