[Question #10649] Scared Again

Hi Again. I reached out in June/July because I was having an STI scare. I had only engaged in mutual masturbation with other men outside my marriage but I was getting the better of myself despite what I read on here. I went to the STI clinic and they said no STI's, to stay OFF the internet , but that I did say I had have jock itch. The medicine they prescribed cleared that up. I was still so paranoid that I went to my urologist who recommenced I get tested not because she thought I had anything other than jock itch but because the test would ease my concern. That came back negative and the subsequent syphilis test I did through the STI clinic came back negative as well, Neither tested for herpes since I never developed a sore of any kind. I put this all behind me and only my wife has touched my penis since - lol. the worry was enough to keep me on the straight and narrow.
However today I noticed a horizontal cut on my penis and it has reignited my fears. Last night my wife and I had sex with a vigorous handjob. But, could the tests have missed something or do I have herpes? The more I stretched my skin to examine the redder the cut became so I told myself to just leave it alone. Honestly if I hadn't been examining my penis while urinating I would not have even noticed. But it has made me reconsider all the other "penile sensations" I have felt since June making me think they were signs of something all along. These sensations include sometimes tight/red testicles, occasional itching, and general penis/testicle awareness.
Have I ventured into the absured? Is this something to worry about? Could my tests have been wrong?

Welcome back to the Forum. You have apparently used a different user name for these questions so I cannot review your earlier visit to the Forum for context. That said, I would like to encourage you to take a deep breath and relax. Multiple trained professional have told you that your past activities did not put you at risk and you have had negative tests. Apparently you have not had other recent partners. You do have a tendency to worry and certainly, the internet is not your friend here.
The lesion you describe sounds nothing like herpes and for you to have an abrasion, particularly after receipt of vigorous masturbation, is not unexpected. After all sex and musturbation are all bout friction and friction leads to abrasions.
Nothing you have said suggests any need for testing of any sort. Further, I'll specifically urge you not to pursue blood tests for herpes which are far, far more likely to confuse things that anything else. Most experts recommend against blood tests for herpes in situations such as yours.
So, to summarize, I think you are worrying more than you need to. I no reason for concern and no reason for testing. EWH

For reference my question was #10102. You told me then , which I am doing my upmost best to abide by now, to put my fears aside because none of my symptom's sounded like an STI ((including herpes or HPV) and three different drs (dermatologist, Urologist, and STI doctor had said it was not an sti). And that my tests were negative.
And now I am doing my best to remember that 1) I am as likely to be struck by lightening on any given day as I am to catch an STI from mutual masturbation 2) That mutual masturbation is considered safe sexy by all all major health organizations and none of the drs. who moderate this site have ever seen or heard of an STI being transmitted via hands-to-genital 3) To stay away from the internet.
I am hearing that I have let my anxiety get the best of me ( I guess my therapist will hear about it). I supose I am just nervous that this cut/abrasion would be a sign of stage two syphilis or something that would have been missed before ( I have no rashes anywhere else on my body). But again, I should take a deep breath and realize that it is FAR more likely that it came from the vigorous masturbation I received from my wife the night before. Thank you kindly for any reponse :-)

I should add for your reference the abrasion/cut is horizontal, smaller than a grain of rice and darker than the surrounding skin.

Thanks for your thoughtful and accurate response. You are right on target. There is simply no realistic way that you need to worry about an STI.
There is no scientific or medical reason for you to test. For some people in situations such as yours, testing provides the final bit of evidence needed to put their concerns aside and more forward. For others however it simple fuels ongoing concerns. I do not know which category you fall into and hope that with introspection you will be able to sort this out. I wish you the best in moving forward. EWH

My last response and you can end our discussion. I had, in a panic, attempted to go back to the STI clinic, but they were booked for the day. But after some rational thought that was unwarranted, right? And, my description of the mark does not sound concerning? Thank you again and I will put this behind me

Going to the STD Clinic is unnecessary and makes no sense. There is no reason for this. Yu have been evaluated by multiple clinicians who feel that this is not an STI. The description of the mark you have provided raises no concerns at all.
End of thread. EWH
