[Question #10681] UTI

Hello Doctors, thank you for this service I find myself needing some guidance again. I had an exposure with a high end CSW on Oct 17th, unprotected oral on me and protected vaginal intercourse. I have had no symptoms, no burning while urinating discharge outside of urine leaking at times which tends to happen and zero sores.
About three weeks after this encounter I had unprotected vaginal sex with my partner, in addition to several oral sex on me. About two weeks after the unprotected vaginal sex my parter had symptoms of a UTI. She did a rapid urine test to check for uti and the leukocytes showed positive nitrates neg. Went to an urgent care and she was prescribed nitorofurantoin, they also took a urine culture but no bacteria over the 10000 limit was found.
During this time I tested for chlamydia and gon on Nov 21 and came back negative.
My questions are is it possible I passed on chlamydia or gon to her? Did I wait too long to test and maybe my immune system cleared before I tested?
I am concerned based on the results of her urine culture that it maybe something else but I have had no real symptoms after this exposure.
And is it possible I passed on something else? Ngu? I would assume I would have symptoms but never did
Thanks again for the service

Welcome back to our Forum. Thanks for your continued confidence in our service. I'll be glad to comment.
The encounter you describe on Oct 17 was very low risk. Most CSWs, particularly high end ones do not have STIs, your vaginal exposure was condom protected and receipt of oral sex rarely leads to acquisition of STIs. When it does, the STIs which occur is most often gonorrhea which is obviously symptomatic in about 90% of persons who become infected. Both the absence of symptoms in you and your subsequent testing last week provides still further evidence that you were not infected.
The symptoms of UTI in your partner are non-specific and it is not unusual for UTIs to occur without positive bacterial cultures (this syndrome is called the acute urethral syndrome). I suspect her symptoms were coincidental.
The likelihood that you acquired gonorrhea or chlamydia from the encounter you describe is close to zero as validated by your testing. While the immune system can clear a minority of STIs without medication, it is far, far more likely that you were not infected and that her symptoms reflected a coincidental process.
Assuming her symptoms have resolved (something that is not likely to occur if she had gonorrhea or chlamydial) I would assume that her symptoms reflected a coincidental process and not worry further. EWH

Correct. These symptoms are far more suggestive of a UTI than and STI. Please don't worry. EWH---
