[Question #10695] High Risk

Hello,

I had gay receptive anal in USA (unprotected).

I had a HIV-1/2 AG/AB W/RFX blood drawn from vein (this is the same as 4th Gen?) at 47 days. Is the test conclusive for both HIV1 and HIV2. It was negative

1. Is negative same as non reactive? Or does negative mean the test went to the second phase and then was negative?

2. Do I need to test more or is one test enough?

Welcome to our Forum and for your implied confidence in our service.  I'll be glad to comment.

The test you had was a 4th generation, combination HIV antigen/antibody test.  I provides absolutely conclusive results at any time more than 6 weeks following an exposure.  Thus, you can be entirely confident that you did not acquire HIV from the exposure you describe.

In response to your specific questions:
1. Is negative same as non reactive? Or does negative mean the test went to the second phase and then was negative?
Negative and non-reactive mean the same thing.  There was no evidence of HIV in your test results.

2. Do I need to test more or is one test enough?
One test is sufficient.  Believe the results.

I hope that this information is helpful.  EWH
