[Question #10717] HPV warts follow up to Question #10715

Good morning Dr.Handsfield
Apologies for this follow up but looking for clarification.  Your answer to HPV wart formation was zero, " for all practical purposes". I will confess this has me worried and I hope I needlessly.  Dr.Hook in his answer to my first question has said zero risk (full stop) for HPV( which I assume would mean warts caused by HPV to).  So I am asking does your comment imply risk?  Do I have 2 years of vigilance to watch out for warts ahead of me. I thank you in advance for your time and consideration and I look forward to your comments.

On this occasion I happened to pick up your latest questions and find myself wondering why you are having so much trouble moving forward.  You need to move on.  In science and medicine one can never say never, nor do statistics work that way.  Your risk of being struck by lightening while reading this reply is not zero but it is close enough that you should not be worried about it.  The same is true regarding your concerns about having gotten HIV from the virtually no risk encounters you described and the having transmitted it to your wife.  You do not need to be "vigilant" for two years.  You need to put your unwarranted fears aside and move forward.  If you cannot, what you need to to find out what is causing you to be so fixated in these virtually no risk event.  EWH---

So by virtually no risk, you mean like being struck by lightning?  So no chance of wart formation? And would wart develop automatically mean it was do to my encounters?

In your experience, have you seen warts develop from such a condom protected handjob encounter?

Sigh.  Please re-read my earlier response.  This question is repetitive and repeating the question will not change my response.  There was no meaningful risk of developing warts from the encounter you describe.

No, I have never seen someone who acquired genital warts as a result of receipt of masturbation while wearing a condom.  EWH

Thank you.  What does meaningful risk mean?

This will be the final response.  You should not need to return with additional questions.  Should you return with further repetitive, anxiety driven questions the question may be deleted without a response and without return of your posting fee.

As I explained in my original response, " In science and medicine one can never say never, nor do statistics work that way.  Your risk of being struck by lightening while reading this reply is not zero but it is close enough that you should not be worried about it.  The same is true regarding your concerns about having gotten HIV or HPV from the virtually no risk encounters you described and the having transmitted it to your wife."  This is what "no meaningful risk" means.

End of thread.  EWH
