[Question #10723] Bump- HSV Question

Good Morning,
I have what is probably a silly question, but my anxiety has gotten the best of me. I’m too embarrassed to go to the doctor for this as logically I think I understand nothing is going on. But, I would appreciate the opinion of an expert on this information i provide.
Wednesday I had a 14 hour work day and it was humid, so I don’t know if this had anything to do with it. I sweat a lot that day. The following day, I felt a slight pain when touching an area on the bottom of the shaft. I noticed it was a red bump. The bump did not have fluid in it. I squeezed it, admittedly hard, for the entire day. So much so that I accidentally dug my fingernails into the bump trying to pop it.
The bump seemed as if it was deeper in the skin. Like a pimple that hasn’t come out yet. I continued to mess with the bump and it went away. It did not grow or open up (other than my fingernails digging in). After speaking with my counselor, i think I might have OCD, but I wanted an experts opinion on this.
Thank you for your time

Based on your description, I cannot help you know if this could be herpes or not. However, the red bump with nothing else, by itself, doesn't sound like HSV but the slight pain does confuse the issue a bit. Have you had a sexual experience that concerns you recently? Have you ever had anything like this in the past? Have you had a herpes antibody test?

I haven’t had a sexual encounter that concerns me. I’ve been with the same partner for a few months. I do think I’ve had something similar before, but not in that exact spot. The pain felt similar to an ingrown hair like pain but there wasn’t a hair as far as I could see.
I was tested with the western blot about 7 months ago and it was negative

aaaaaaah, I see. Since you did the western blot, have you had an unprotected sexual encounter? Has your current partner been tested for HSV 2, do you know?

I was with someone for a bit consistently maybe 3 months ago before my current partner. but that person said they had been tested and tested negative before we were together. I make sure to ask if they were tested before anything happens
As for my current partner, they get tested often and nothing has came back out of the ordinary

That's all excellent news! And in that case, I would not worry at all about the bump! Trust that the negative results of the blot are correct.
