[Question #10767] Kiss from massage

|
I received a massage where the provider manually stimulated me as well as kissed, sucked, and licked my nipples for a few minutes and then when she was done, gave me a peck on the lips. My lips at the time were severely chapped. What is my likelihood for contracting HSV or anything else?

I should also mention that I have previously tested negative for HSV1 and HSV2. If the provider did have herpes, what is my likelihood?

I think the likelihood of your contracting HSV 2 is zero and the risk of acquiring HSV 1 is just about the same. A peck on the lips is simply not enough contact for the virus to be passed to you, especially if she didn't have a cold sore. In terms of the nipples, I would recommend that you simply observe them for a week or so and if something abnormal shows up there, have it swab tested. Again, herpes of the nipple is possible, but quite uncommon, for sure.

Just to clarify, even if the masseuse had a cold sore, because of the type of exposure (peck); the risk would still be close to zero or minimal? If so, could you delve a little deeper into why that is?

the risk is still close to zero because a peck dos not go beyond the thicker skin of the lip, right?

Yes I suppose. For my understanding, when children are exposed to HSV from a relative, how are they getting it? I would guess that a relative isn’t doing anything more than a peck.

I think that depends on the nature of the kiss and the age of the child - small children have less keratinized lip skin that is more vulnerable AND their immune system may not yet be as good to defend themselves against HSV
