[Question #10779] HSV outbreak?

I am uncircumcised male and am having small white scabs kind of dots on my penis head and under my foreskin. I see 3-4 very small red bumps on one patch on penis head, they don’t seem to hurt. I have itching on and off for few seconds in testicular area and on my buttocks. My penis seems to smell foul when I pull back foreskin. Having tinnitus and some pain on left buttock when I sit.
Had faced something very similar 3 years ago after having vigorous sex with my wife. I have had herpes scare many years ago, so am concerned. I have read that herpes outbreaks can happen after sex. Does this sound like herpes?
Also since the episode 3 years ago, I tend to get single similar scabby kind of patch in same spot on my penis head which resolves on its own without any concerns. Does this sound like herpes?

I'm unclear about this. What was the herpes scare about? Did you test? What were the results? Did your wife test? Have you had sex with anyone besides her in the past year or so? Have you ever had these scabby areas swab tested for herpes?

I had few bumps show up around 6 years ago after having sex with a new partner. At the time I had gotten blood test done (IGG and WB)- both were positive for HSV1 and negative for HSV2. (IGG was tested 1 week after exposure and 17 weeks after exposure, WB 20 weeks after exposure). I had negative swab results then.
I haven’t had any new partners since then, other than my wife. She doesn’t have HSV.
I don’t have facility to get these new bumps swab tested here. So no testing done 3 years ago and now.
Could I have acquired HSV1 in my genital area 6 years ago, inspite of having antibodies already? These “bumps” tend to accompany with other symptoms which I mentioned in my original question which has me concerned. For example, I feel pain in my back/tailbone area if am lying down or bending for more than few seconds, which I usually don’t. The bumps do tend to show up more often after having sex which I have read happens with HSV usually as well.

If you had a negative blot for HSV 2 6 years ago and have had no other partners since then other than your wife who tests negative, I am unconcerned about HYSV 2 at all. Period.
It would be highly unusual to acquire HSV 1 genitally after having it orally, but do we know that? Your antibody test was positive and your swab was negative but that doesn't mean that 1) that the bumps were NOT herpes, right? I don't know when, in terms of it's presentation, you had this swab tested.
Herpes would not cause you to have pain in the tailbone associated with physical activity.
Having said all that, I doubt that the bumps are HSV 1. It seems like they might come too often and the way you describe them as bumps, not sores or blisters, doesn't fit for me
This is all guessing, though.

Thanks for response, especially during new years time.
Yes they aren’t sores or blisters, more like tiny red spots, some have white layer on them(why I called them “scabs”). I do have some smegma but these white spots seem different. For uncircumcised males, is presentation usually of sores on the penis head?
Sorry did you mean that I didn’t know for sure if I had HSV1 orally? My first blood test was done within few days or exposure, so my assumption was I had it already orally. And I have had couple of oral breakouts in past few years.
Do herpes lesions smell? I am sensing a foul smell when I pull down my foreskin.

My previous swab tests 6 years ago were done when I had these red bumps on the penis head, they didn’t have any fluid or sores as such to swab them.

Apologies one more question- can hsv outbreak lead to increased urination, particularly at night?

No, HSV does not cause increased urination, day or night!
The other thing is that I rarely see HSV outbreaks on the head of the penis only. But candida balanitis is common on the head of the penis and does cause bumps. Look it up on the internet, it could be what is going on with you.
