[Question #1079] ocular herpes

Hi Terri,
I have had HSV1 from childhood and I suspect having HSV2 currently waiting for my test period.
3 days ago, I met my girlfriend after a while. we had the night, in which I did not kiss her on the lips, we hold hands but I made sure my hands are clean and washed. We hugged and I kissed her forehead and she kissed my cheeks.
The morning after she woke up with both her eyes swollen. the inflammation went away mostly during a day. an eye emergency doctor said there is nothing wrong.
Its been two days that she has itching in her eyes.
Yesterday, I noticed small bump under my upper lip. it is no way like the HSV1 outbreaks that I used to have but it could be i don't know... I actually afraid that it could be hsv2 auto-innoculation
My questions are:
1- Is it possible that I passed her ocular herpes ??
2- How long after exposure the first signs of ocular herpes shows up ? (I have been looking on internet but cant find this) is it possible after just a night sleep?
3- What is the best course of action going forward ?

If she has ocular herpes, I don't believe at all that it came from the encounter that you had with her. Especially since the eye doctor said there was nothing wrong - they would have noticed herpes in the eye upon exam. If someone was to contract herpes in the eye, symptoms would appear between 2 and 10 days after infection - not the next morning. Why do you think you have HSV 2? I guess you need to find out if you have HSV 2 but even if you do, there is nothing that you did that would infect her eyes!
