[Question #10822] HIV

You are right. English is not my first language, so I am using translation software to assist me. I just want to ensure that I understand your reply. I would like to ask my final questions and would be really grateful if you could answer them. I don’t want to repeat what I previously posted, but I do want to make sure I understand the risks.

My question pertains solely to HIV. I have seen your comments on this website about oral sex being a very low-risk exposure. If I have oral contact (like licking) with clothes, panties, or underwear that are obviously wet with fluid (genital secretions or blood that I may not notice), can you compare my risk with the risk of performing unprotected oral sex on a female? Which one is more risky? I hope my risk is lower than that of oral sex.

If anything in my post is unclear, please let me know. Thank you so much for your patience. This will be my final post, and I promise not to ask repeated questions.

Sigh. I gave you a pass on your last follow-up question but not again.

There has never been a proved case of HIV transmitted by cunnilingus (oral-vaginal contact). That doesn't mean the risk is zero, but it's extremely low. I would judge that the chance of HIV from oral exposure to women's underwear -- even if wet with vaginal fluid -- is even lower.

Thank you.

If someone licks my skin, such as my butt or arm, and there are pimples or acne present either on my skin or on the mouth or tongue of the person licking me, do I need to worry about HIV transmission?

How would you assess the risk of HIV transmission through mouth-to-skin contact (for both partners) when pimples and acne are present? Is it as low as the risk associated with receiving oral sex?

What if the pimples and acne have burst or broken? Can I safely assume that my risk of HIV is extremely low?

I often have pimples and acne on my skin, and sometimes my pimples and acne break. But can I consider my skin intact even if I have broken pimples and acne? I worry that my previous sexual partners may have licked my skin when I had broken pimples and acne, and I can’t remember if this has happened or not.

All these circumstances make no difference. Acne, whether burst/broken or not, has never been a risk factor for HIV.

This is your second question (third if we count the attempted one that was answered in the first). This will have to be your last such question on the forum. Repeated anxiety driven questions with predictable answers are not permitted and future ones from you about these events and your HIV anxieties will be deleted without reply and without refund of the posting fee. ASHA is not keen on getting paid for information whose answers already have been given; repeated answers often prolong anxiety rather than helping relieve it; and such questions have limited educational value for other readers, one of the forum's main goals. Thank you for your understanding.

I do hope the discussions have been helpful. Best wishes and stay safe.
