I am organ transplant patient and under immune suppression drugs(wysolone, myfortic and tracolimus). My hiv status is negative after 28 th and 58th day of 4 th generation test from quest lab. Is there any possibility of turning the results to positive after that. Because I am having fever, vomiting, increases heart rate and diarrhea from 52nd day onwards and took test on 58th day. Also my wbc count neutrophil is high.

Welcome to our Forum. Thanks for your questions. Modern organ transplantation is a modern medical miracle but, as you know, the therapy needed to prevent rejection makes transplant recipients more susceptible to infections. I understand your concern. At the same time, your 4th generation test results show that your symptoms are not due to HIV. While your suppressive medications might compromise your ability to produce antibodies, , it would not negatively impact growth of the virus if you were infected. Since the 4th generation tests test not only for HIV antibodies but also for the virus itself (the antigen) if you were infected, the test would be positive. You can be confident that the symptoms you report are not due to HIV. I trust you will seek the advice of your doctors as to what might be causing your symptoms- it is not HIV.
I hope that this information is helpful. EWH

Thanks doctor. Is the test taken at 58 th day is good enough to eliminate it. What is the window period for 4 th generation test. Even if it is HIV2 it will be deducted by that time.(I am in USA) do I need to restet it for conclusiveness.? Kindly suggest.

A test at 58 days is certainly sufficient to eliminate the possibility of HIV-1. The P 24 antigen test in fourth generation HIV tests may miss HIV-2 on occasions and the best test to rule out the possibility of HIV-2 is an HIV-2 RNA PCR test.
Your symptoms, however, are not consistent with HIV of any sort. In my opinion, it would be better to check with your doctor about other possible causes of your symptoms, then to be worrying about HIV-2. EWH.

Hi ,
I have checked with pcp and they took all test including blood culture, X-ray and CT scan and parameters are normal. I understand there is no possibility of hiv 1. I am worried too much as if there any possibility of another one . Again the symptoms are total digestive problem( bloating and burping) increased heart rate at night, there is no lymph node swelling observed but sometimes it pains over there, I am getting too much of tired, dry lips, and oral thrush. No fever and diarrhea observed as of now but previously had it. WBC count keeps fluctuating from high to low. I have given 4 th generation test after having fever, so will it detect if there is any antibodies for hiv2 right?. The condoms slipped off while having vaginal sex in USA California ,may be for a mint. with above mentioned scenario and symptoms what is the possibility of having of hiv2. I am too much worried.

Even if your condom came off, your risk for HIV-2 is virtually zero.
Your symptoms in no way suggest HIV-2.
You need to move on. This thread an will now be closed. There is n reason that you should return to the Forum with additional questions about this exposure.
The symptoms you report could well be heightened by anxiety
