Hello Dr.

I have now looked in the laboratory documents regarding my pcr test and it says that the PCR/ RNA test only does Hiv 1, there are also no RNA tests for hiv-2 offered here in my area. Is the 4th generation test after 15 weeks still sufficient for Hiv 1 and 2 and their subtypes? Thank you.

*Sigh*

You don't need the RNA result to be 100% certain you do not have HIV2. I've already answered your question about 4th gen tests:  your negative results conclusively prove you have neither HIV1 nor HIV2. All subtypes that exist in the US are detected by the tests you had.

Stay off the web. You're just increasing your own worries by all the nonscientific, unreliable information you are finding. Anyone can write anything they want on the web, and statements of how and where someone was infected, what virus types cause concern, etc is the very worst kind of "evidence" available. If you can't help yourself, at least limit your online searching to professionally run or moderated sites; and avoid sites by and for people with HIV or at risk (like Reddit, for example).

Do not ask again about anything whose answers are obvious in your previous thread. Thank you.

Thank you Dr. You are right, I am not from the USA but from Germany.  I strongly assume that it is the same case here. You are right. I will take your answer very seriously and stop getting information from resources like reddit .etc. You are welcome to close the thread. Thank you very much.

Indeed, the epidemiology of HIV in general -- to the best of my knowledge, including HIV2 -- is similar in Western Europe to that in North America.---

Ok then I will trust your answer and not do any more tests. As I said I was just afraid that remicade would have an effect on the hiv test. Thank you very much.

There are no drugs or medical conditions that have any effect on the timing or reliability of the HIV AgAb (4th generation) blood tests. Immune inhibiting drugs like remicade might have done so with the earliest antibody-only tests in use 20 years ago. Even then it was rare if it happened at all.

That concludes this thread. I hope your urinary symptoms also are clearing up. Best wishes and stay safe.
