[Question #10898] Hsv1

I’m have several previous questions but date of exposure was 9/22. Licking of the butt crack and anus don’t believe there was penetration from tongue. Sucking of scrotum and inserting finger into butt. Nothing else. I have oral hsv1 from childhood fever blisters. All my test have come back neg 5 1/2 weeks hsv1 45.10 negative on hsv2. 10 1/2 weeks hsv1 41.70 hsv2 neg. Western Blot at 13 weeks pos. for hsv1 neg for hsv2. Swab test at 6 weeks for gonorreha and Clamydia and hsv. It came back neg (I did the swab myself at doctors office thought this was weird.) I went back and read previous post and was feeling stuff right at 2 weeks on scrotum and rectum. One night got cramps in both thighs at same time. Since then backs of both legs in the same spot hurt, right hip bone hurts, thighs hurt on top and sides, tailbone feels like it is burning, saddle area hurts, calves hurt and feet hurt. Not as bad in morning but as the day goes on more intense. Rectum still feels inflamed and irritated and after I use bathroom feels worse. Can this be a new infection of hsv1 in my genital area after having long standing oral infection? Is it possible that he licked me and then inserted finger pushed virus in causing this? I can’t see how this would happen as half population or more has hsv1 oral you would think with people having oral sex this would be very common.

Once you have HSV 1 in one location (in your case, mouth), it is highly unlikely that you would get this same virus in a new location (in your case, genitals).
The goodness is that the University of Washington requests that you wait 12 weeks from any concerning encounter to do the blot, which you did and were negative for HSV 2. You can count on that result. And it is what I would expect since the contact that you had did not present a risk of acquiring HSV 2.
You're all set now. Put this worry behind you and move on. Good job for being careful about your sexual practices at this encounter.

So the leg issues that I’m having are not anything of concern for hsv1 in my genital area or my rectum / anus area which is my worry cause I can’t see in there. My wife has fever blisters all the time. When we are together and we kiss and I preform oral on her and then we have sex is that a risk for me maybe getting it from her? I just feel like something is wrong with me and I sure don’t want to give this to my wife. I know you can’t say with a 100% but I just don’t feel good and my legs are acting like never before and if I did have it would it last this long?

You don't want to give something to your wife but you are negative for HSV 2 so in terms of herpes, that leaves HSV 1, which you already have and so does she.
Once you have HSV 1 in one location, which for you is oral, it is very unlikely that you would then acquire HSV 1 in a new location, like genitals.
I don't know what is going on with your leg but I seriously doubt that it has anything to do with herpes.

I have read from cdc that this can happen and also read other sites it’s rare to get reinfected with same virus. I still feel the rectal and leg symptoms every day since describing in October question. I was fine up until I had this exposure. How for sure are you that I would not get this infection in my genital area? If I did have it how likely would I pass this to my wife since she has oral hsv1?

It just seems like the rectal and leg pain is from a new infection due to the licking of my anus

I don't know how to prove a negative. But if both you and your wife have HSV 1 orally, this seems extremely unlikely. If you had sores to be swab tested, I might feel differently, but you don't.
Also, herpes symptoms aren't continuous, they are episodic. I'm sorry that this is still worrying you but if you've had rectal and leg pain for the past 18 months, I do not believe this is due to HSV 1 infection in this area.
