[Question #10922] Oral sti risk with sw

Good day, I’m an 33 year old male. About 36-40 hrs ago I had an encounter with a sw. She performed unprotected oral sex on me until i finished. This took maybe 5-8 min.
Following the interaction we had a conversation which lead me to believe she probably does not go to clinics for testing as frequently as she should given the work she does. If even at all.
And if she did this with me, she probably does with others as well. So naturally the panic set in.
Additional about 24hrs ago - approximately 12-16hrs post event, I took two 100mg pills of Doxycycline Hyclate as a PEP.
Why? Again, panic.
Oh, also after I took the doxy, I realized it expired on 10/11/2022.
My question is of course risk of contracting something from this encounter, bacterial or viral, as well as the effectiveness of doxy as a PEP also given its expired.
Thanks

Welcome to our Forum. Thanks for your questions. FYI, I happened to be on the site when your question arrived so you are getting a reply more quickly than is normal. Follow-ups may take longer to get a reply.
This was a low risk exposure. There are no proven instances in which a person has acquired HIV from receipt of oral sex. In addition, Most CSWs do not have STis and when they do oral STIs are uncommon. Further even if she did have an oral infection, most receipt of oral sex from an infected partner does not result in infection. Finally, the doxycycline you took virtually eliminates any risk for syphilis or chlamydia and reduces your risk for gonorrhea which was already close to zero by half. That the doxycycline was out of date does not change that.
Bottom line this was a low risk exposure. I would not worry and probably would not even bother to test although that is always a personal choice. EWH

Thanks for the reply. I know most CSW usually get screening often but her comments after are what concerned me and lead me to believe maybe she doesn’t that often or at all. I always practice safe sex - only exception being oral because I always viewed it as low risk myself, until I decided to slap the keyboard on google (big mistake)
Ok well sounds like if I came to you personally you wouldn’t even recommend testing.
So I assume no concern or issues with resuming sexual activity with my regular partner?
Thanks again

You are correct, Google has not been your friend here. All too much of the information there is misleading for a variety of reasons.
I see Little or no medical or scientific reason for testing at this time. Further, I would not hesitate to have unprotected sex with my regular partner if I were you. EWH
