Can you get a cold sore from a clerk at a store if they have one and they were the person to ring your order up?

No, this is not a way to get cold sores or herpes of any kind. Herpes is not transmitted via social contacts such as the one that you are describing. Now if you kissed the clerk or they gave you oral sex, that would be different!

Thank you! I just worry because if they touch the sore and then grab one of my items, would the virus be on that item? I have been battling a fear with this,

Even if they touched the sore and touched an item that your purchased, there would not be anywhere near enough virus to infect another person on the item and then the virus would die very rapidly on that item. Have you had worries similar to this in the past?

I had a scare that now has turned into a fear of getting it. I have tested negative in a blood test for both types, and had a culture that was negative. I have been seeing a counselor, but ran into a bit of a rough patch today. Not sure if I have ever asked that specific question even though I worry about it.

OK, that makes sense then. And you aren't the only person who has had a herpes scare (someone suggesting that they have herpes and it turns out they don't) that has this reaction to herpes in the future. I've had this happen with several patients, actually. But please be reassured in this situation that herpes is not a risk for you - absolutely none. This is your final response on this series of posts. If you have more questions, feel free to renew. But I think we're all finished here. You're going to be just fine.
