[Question #11029] HIV testing
|
Hello, 32 yo male here
I recently had a sexual encounter with a masseuse. Had a condom on and ejaculated after I pulled out.
2 weeks after i now have a sore throat and what looks like a red aphtous ulcer on the back of my throat that is painful. I have no rash, no fatigue. I did notice i was sweating one night.
Should I test for HIV?
Thank you

Welcome to our form. Thanks for your question and you are implied confidence in our service.
As long as the condom was worn throughout the encounter you described this was a virtually no risk event and were I you, I would not bother to test related to it. Most commercial sex workers and masseuses do not have HIV. Even when they do, with unprotected encounters with untreated HIV infected persons fewer than one in 1000 lead to infection, I.e. than 99.9% do not result in infection. In your case the use the condom transformed a very low risk encounter to a virtually no risk encounter. I would not worry.
I hope you find this information reassuring and helpful. EWH.
