Dear Doctor
I am having a relationship with a girl since months and we decided to take out the condom. Before starting our relation we obviously decided to perform all the STI tests and everything was negative. We don't live in the same country and we meet very often
2 weeks ago we had one full week together and we had sex during the whole week everyday. She previously had urine infection due to E.Coli
The day I left her I started to feel discomfort in my urine especially at the top of the urethrea. 5 days after the last sex episode I went to have Urine PCR and all came negative and I have no leakage. Now some of my urine is kind of uncomfortable and others are just normal. I am really very focused on that. I don't know if the tests after 5 days are reliable or no?
Is it possible to have urine discomfort for a different cause of an STI?

Welcome to our Forum. Thanks for your questions. I'll be glad to comment. Your risk for STIs is low- your partner sounds to be relatively low risk and was tested for STEs as your relationship began. Your symptoms are not suggestive of STI- STI symptoms do not come and go in the way you describe, you do not have any discharge and the location of your discomfort is not typical of any STI. Finally, you have been tested with a PCR at a time when results are reliable and these tests are reliably very accurate.
I would not be worried about an STI and see you need for additional testing. I hope this assessment is helfpul and reassuring. Please don't worry. EWH
