[Question #11047] Protected Oral Scare

Hello, I have been browsing this forum the last few days but decided I wanted to ask my own question. I had what would be described on this forum as a low risk encounter. I visited a massage parlor on a work trip and received protected oral for less then 1 minute. I didn't even get fully erect as I think the shame/guilt/nervousness hit me once I was on the table. I am in a committed relationship but had been drinking heavily that night. I haven't had any real symptoms of anything yet except for maybe some slight burning/iritation of the penis/testes & upset stomach. But honestly it could just be my anxiety.... I'm on day 8 now after the encounter and have gotten really sick. Sore throat with lots of phlegm, congestion, runny nose. No real fever or body aches. The throat is the worst part which is funny because there was absolutely no kissing or any mouth to mouth contact at all. The event happened late last Wednesday night on 02/28 and it is now Thursday 03/07. But the sickness is making me worried that an outbreak like herpes is about to happen. What is the likelihood I picked something up? As the days go by I become less worried about chlamydia and gonorrhea... seems like I'm still in the prime incubation period for herpes however. Anything else i should be worried about like syphilis? Your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much

If you had no oral contact with the person at the massage parlor - no kissing, no giving her oral sex - then the throat issues that you are having are unrelated to the experience at the parlor. Good for you for using a condom to receive oral sex - that was such a wise decision on the part of whoever decided to do it.
It sounds to me like you have a cold. You could have picked up that germ anyway, but I don't feel it is in anyway related to the sexual contact you had with this person. And I certainly don't see any risk of another STI like syphilis or gonorrhea or chlamydia or HIV. You contact was safe and careful.
Try your best to put this worry behind you now.
Terri
