[Question #11070] Getting tested for Oncogenic OralHPV

Hi Drs! Hope you're doing well!

I (28 M) had an encounter with a girl about 2 months ago where there was a lot of top less licking and deep French kissing. I later found out that she was a cervical cancer survivor.

Over the last couple of weeks I've noticed a very miniscule persistent asymmetric painless dot (nodule) at the front of my soft palate and I've been wondering if it's something I could've picked up from deep kissing. I'm also unfortunately unvaccinated against HPV.

Does this sound characteristic of HPV 16? I read that you should get oral HPV treated early before it progresses to cancer or spreads, so was wondering if it's something I should schedule a test for.

If it is HPV, my first priority is not to spread it, so would you also advise against oral sex with future partner? Any suggestions on healing it faster and avoiding cancer  (AHCC, exercise, diet etc?)

I apologize for the anxiety in this post - I've previously had the misfortune of having a viral infection that scarred my corneas  and left me vision impaired so I'm really scared of viruses lying around in my body. I'm getting therapy for my health anxiety, but would love your inputs on if there's anything I can do to help remove virus from my system in case I'm infected.

I’m not sure why you have returned to the forum with this repetitive question. Your questions have been answered following your two previous questions. Those answers are not going to change.

The lesion you describe does not sound like HPV and you should know that there are no approved tests for oral HPV. As I said before, if you were concerned, you should see an oral surgeon or a dentist. Asking the same questions repetitively will not change the answers. EWH

Hi Dr's!

I'm sorry to bother you again with this. I've had 2 nodules about 1mm in my soft palate near one tonsil that hasn't changed in size for a couple of months now. (May have been there from before my encounter and I hadn't noticed it).

I got it checked by an ENT who felt it said it was mostly a nothing and said to give it time to resolve a month ago, but there's been almost zero change to it since then.

Does this sound at all characteristic of a HPV papilloma Sir? It hasn't changed over a couple of months, but I've read that they can take like 6 months to fully develop. Also wondering do you know if cancer strain's like HPV 16 could show these kinds of symptoms?

Thank you for all your advice thus far, Sir. I think I've gotten a handle on my anxiety to some extent. This question stems from me wanting to start dating again and was wondering if I should disclose this as a potential issue to any new partners.

Best wishes!

This really does not sound like HPV.  You have been seen by an ENT which is the right thing to do to address your concern.

I would have no hesitancy whatsoever to resume dating, including deep kissing or even oral sex.  EWH
