Hi,

Hope all is well. Thank you so much for all you do with this forum. I know for me personally it alleviates anxiety to get these questions answered by professionals.

I was getting a massage, when the person giving it started talking and spit came out of his mouth and onto my back. I had a couple of cuts that could have been open on my back. Is it possible for any STDs such as HIV, Hepatitis, HPV etc to transmit via spit into an open wound? I look forward to hearing from you.

Welcome to our forum. Thank you for your questions. Thank you as well for acknowledging that the information provided here is helpful. That is our goal.

The event you describe, are entirely without risk. Saliva or even kissing, open wounds and skin rashes of the sort that you described is an entirely no risk event. For viruses and bacterial infections saliva actually inhibits the likelihood of infection.  I can assure you there is no reason for concern, and no reason whatsoever for testing.

Thank you so much for the reply. I will definitely try my best not to worry and let it go. I do have another question, a couple of days ago I not a red patch on the head of my penis. It looked like there was a mini bump in the center, maybe 2 bumps im unsure the bumps were so small. The red patch was a decent size though. I instantly got it swab PCR tested for herpes and I'm still waiting on the results. By the next morning, less than 24 hours after I noticed it, it was gone. The redness was almost completely gone and no bumps. Does herpes act like this? Show up then disappear in less than 24 hours? Do any STDs present themselves like this? The doctor I saw was almost positive it wasn't herpes but we swab tested anyway. Thank you so much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

The transient bumps you describe do not suggest any particular STI.  This would be a very unusual way for herpes to present.

The penis is a highly vascular organ.  Lesions of the sort you describe could have some sort of vascular component.

In your expert opinion, when taking a PCR swab, is it possible that I swabbed too early? When I noticed it I went right to the doctors within the hour. Is it's something else would that show on the PCR swab as well?

We provide up the 3 responses to each client's questions.  This will be my final response.

If the lesions was due to HSV, the PCR would be positive.  You certainly did not swab too early- remember, the lesion went away quickly after you noticed it (in a way that is not typical of HSV).  EWH
