[Question #11116] Herpes or Another STD

Hello Doctor:  I had protected vaginal and anal sex for about 15 minutes with a female CSW 6 days ago. I got protected oral sex but did not give any oral sex. She finished me by masturbating me with the condom off. The day after this event, my scrotum skin area where the penis rests started itching. There was some redness on the scrotum area. I washed myself and applied baby powder and the itching stopped. But, on Day 3 till now, I see a small pink pimple on my scrotum area that itches and the itching continues to this day. Not sure if this is Jock Itch or Herpes or???  I have no other unusual symptoms. Do I need STD testing?

I think the condom will be very helpful in reducing the risk of HSV transmission to you.  Good job for using it even for oral sex.  It really isn't possible to know what might be going on with the pimple across the great expanse of the internet.  If it is tender, I would suggest that you have the pimple evaluated by a medical professional so you can feel more certain about your question of is it HSV or not.  And if they dismiss it as not herpes and you are still worried, ask that a swab test to be done as well as an exam.  People often come back to me months or years after something like this and say "damn, I wish I had had a swab test done of that thing on my genitals, rather than just accepting the medical opinion of the provider."  Honestly, given your condom use, I seriously doubt it is HSV but can't be sure and the antibody test would be too soon for accuracy and also has a lot of false positives.
