[Question #11138] Oral thrush

Hi doctors- sorry to be back again, but I really need your advice. I promise this is my last time posting on this incident.

My boyfriend no longer has the flue like symptoms (sore throat or severe congestion). However, now he has oral thrush (white tounge that comes off when your scrape it). He said that it has been coming and going for a few weeks now.

As a nervous reck I ran and got 2 hiv tests (one 4th generation and the other an RNA). Both came back negative 15 weeks after I finished pep.  However, I read about elite controllers so my question is:

1. Could I be one of these elite controllers who passed hiv to my boyfriend, which is why all of my tests are negative?

2. Is it possible that I could have passed hiv to my partner when we had sex while I was there on pep, but the pep ended up curing my hiv, which is why my 4th gen and RNA tests are negative?

3. Is oral thrush a symptom of early hiv infection? Does it sound like part of ARS?

1. You misunderstand elite controllers. They all test positive on the standard HIV tests.
2. No, because it is not possible you have (or had) HIV.
3. White coated tongue is not the same as thrush. Tongue coating fits with innumerable minor issues, including colds. It is never the only symptom of ARS.

You received the standard warning last time. Re-read it. This thread is now closed, and any future questions on these topics WILL be deleted without even this much reply.

Suck it up and move on.
