I was exposed in Feb thru March last year to an hiv positive female not on treatment it was insertive oral only. My wife and I had sex 3 times in June and then she got pain in genital area and on Oct 10 went to hospital with right upper quadrant pain and severe abdominal pain as well, all her urine tests are abnormal epifeleal cells high. I read that hiv presents in stomach and esophageal because many white cells located there as well as genital wall. I tested negative on Oct 19 4th gen bioflex 2000 test and tested every month thru this March Insti in Nov, 4th gen in Jan, Pcr Rna qual in Feb, 4th gen Cobas in Feb as well. Took hiv 1 and 2 PCR and Hiv 1 viral load test this week..no results yet. Do I need more time to test positive, all tests so far negative non reactive or not detected for at least 8 months or more, my wife's issues which when Googled say hiv may be cause worry me. She has had her gallbladder removed years ago. I've heard testing overules any symptoms but would like your input. My doctor says I'm fine..he ordered 1 4th gen test in Feb but I didn't bring up wife's cholestiny gastric issues. Thank you

Welcome to our Forum. Thank you for your questions. I'll be glad to comment. You did not get HIV from your exposures to an HIV infected person mentioned above. There are NO proven cases in which someone acquired HIV from receipt of oral sex and you are not going to be the first. You have proven that you were not infected with multiple conclusively negative tests. 4th generation, combination HIV antigen/antibody tests are completely conclusive any time more than 6 weeks after an exposure and HIV PCR tests are considered conclusive any time more than 11-12 days following an exposure. There is no need for further testing related to these exposures- the results are not going to change.
You wife's illness in NOT related to HIV. She could not have gotten HIV from you.
Google is not your friend here. Much of what is found there is misleading, either because it is out of date, taken out of contact, or just plain wrong. I hope your wife's issues will improve. They are NOT due to HIV that you transmitted to her. EWH

I Took the Real Time Abbott Hiv 1 RNA by PCR viral load test. It read < 20 copies per ml and said Hiv RNA not detected, the report range is 20 - 10,000,000 copies RNA per ml. Last row said log 10 Hiv 1 RNA unable to calculate since non numeric result obtained for component test. I also took Hiv 1 and 2 Qualitative RNA test and it was non-reactive for both. Exposure was 10 months ago. Also two 4th generation Hiv tests taken first in Oct 2023 then in March 2024 both non reactive as well. I'm not sure of 1st test the viral load wording ..my doctor said I didn't need either or the 2 RNA tests..it was overkill..Done for peace of mind. My concern is just the < 20 listed on results, does it mean I'm ok or does < 20 indicate need for more testing. Thank you.

Your PCR test is negative and shows that you do not have HIV. When persons have HIV they have tens or even hundreds of thousands of HIV copies present. The laboratory reports the limits of their test's detection which I know is confusing. This result is absolutely conclusive evidence that you do not have HIV. There is no need for additional testing. You are in the clear. EWH---
