[Question #11159] It’s the timing.. canker/drinks

Dr.
I Hate to come back already but the timing is getting to me.
Had a past question about having a canker sore under tongue and sharing drinks.
That same night had intercourse with my spouse. Here we are a week and half later, she has rashes on her arms and stomach area. Itchy and red.
Is this just a coincidence or am I tripping out here? I understand you said no HIV can happen from sharing drinks with me having a canker sore but my mind is starting to play tricks on me then.
She says she doesn’t have any other symptoms besides rash and itchiness.
Thoughts?

Welcome back but sorry you found it necessary. Your previous thread suggested you had highly unrealistic concerns and fears about HIV. This question confirms it. HIV should not even be on your mind.
---
Rash is never the only symptom if a new HIV infection; HIV rash doesn't itch; and if your drinking/bar/canker sore events happened within the last week or two, not enough time has passed for you to have a transmissible HIV infection and your wife to have been infected herself as a result. Her rash is entirely unrelated to HIV or to your canker sore.
Your description suggests her rash is urticaria (hives), which most often is allergy to something. Has she started a new medication recently? Does she have a history of allergies or eczema? If the rash persists, she should see her doctor. HIV should be the last thing on your mind.
