[Question #11164] Brief Unprotected Oral Concerns
16 months ago

A week ago, I mutually masturbated with another male. I went to ejaculate on his face, but he put his mouth on the head of my penis to catch and lick the semen. It lasted about 5 seconds and then I pulled away. I then rinsed off my penis and attempted to rinse out my urethra.
Next day, I noticed a small, fleshy/purplish painless dot to the left inside of my urethra. It’s been the same size since then. I do have a prince albert piercing, so I’m wondering if I put it back in too forcefully.
I went to urgent care just under 72 hours after with UTI symptoms. I now believe those are likely due to bad anxiety (urge, mild discomfort, perineum aches). No discharge or external lesions. They gave me doxycycline for 7 days. Urine test for g/c and a culture came back negative. Maybe a bit early, but can those be trusted?
Please share your thoughts on STI chances (especially HSV/HPV) and the dot? Think I can continue sex with my partner given these circumstances?

Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for your questions. This was a very low risk encounter and personally, I would not be worried in the least. Most people do not have STIs, most exposures do not lead to infection and oral infections are particularly unlikely. The purplish dose you describe does not suggest any sort of STI.
I'm not sure what you mean by "UTI symptoms". Urinary urge and perineal aches are not suggestive of either a UTI nor STI. Your negative test results provide further evidence that you were not infected and should be believed.
Concerns about HPV and HSV are totally unwarranted. Nothing you state suggests either of these infections.
I would have NO concerns whatsoever about having unprotected sex with your regular partner.
I hope this assessment helps. I would not worry. EWH

Thank you Dr. Hook. I greatly appreciate your response and what you all do to help others. I have a few follow up clarifications and questions:
By UTI symptoms, I suppose I meant burning, urgency and what my mind told me was possibly an infection. I believe the cause of that was really a mix of anxiety and guilt.
I know you mentioned I should trust the test results and I do. However, I am curious if you believe the ~2.75 day mark for the urine tests for g/c was really enough time for them to be conclusive. I’ve seen various timelines in other answers here.
Also for my information/curiosity, from a brief encounter like this, what would you roughly estimate my chances of contracting HSV to be?

Thanks for the additional information. It does not in any way change my assessment. For purposes of clarification and in response to your questions.:
1. I agree that the symptoms you described are more likely due to anxiety than an STI.
2. Yes, I am in confident that your test results are accurate.
3. I would anticipate that there is a 99.9% or greater probability that you did not acquire herpes from the exposure you describe.
I encourage you to move on. EWH
