Hello, I hope you can help me because I'm totally freaking out..  While out of town I went to a strip club and got a private dance- during which, the stripper pulled my dick out and gave me a blow job.  No condom... Now I'm so worried that she may have given me herpes.  I didn't see any cold sores around her lips but according to google, I'm destined to have caught it.  I left immediately afterwards and went back to my hotel and showered, within ten minutes of finishing with her.  Don't know if that gave me any help or not.  It's been 3 days now since it happened and no signs of anything but I've read it can lie dormant for years anyway.  So, I guess my question is, how likely or possible is it to contract herpes in this way?  

Have you ever in your life had a cold sore on your lip or in your nose?  Recurrent cold sores are caused by herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV 1) and that's the most likely thing you would get from receiving oral sex.  But Google is wrong - the risk of acquiring HSV 1(if you don't already have it in your body) from a single episode of receiving oral sex from someone showing no cold sores is NOT high.  Let me know about your own history with cold sores please/

Thanks so much for your reply Terri.  No, I'm 45 and never in my life have I had a cold sore.

so just keep an eye out for the next week or so and see if there are any sores that show up on  your penis.  If yes, you should have them checked out immediately.  If not I would guess that you are likely in the clear.
