This is Terri. I answer the questions on this board about HSV. Dr. Handsfield also read this post and he agrees with me completely that you don't have HSV 2. You doctor doesn't seem to understand t that if you have HSV 1 already (which you clearly do based on your high HSV 1 index value) you are extremely unlikely to get it in a new location on your body. I think she is simply responding to your positive result for HSV 1, not thinking that you have HSV 1 genitally from this contact.
I am assuming that when you say your western blot was negative, you mean that you were negative for HSV 2, correct, and positive for HSV 1. So HSV 2 is your concern here. If your concern is indeed the saliva from the handjob, the virus that could remotely be possibly present in this situation is HSV 1, not HSV 2, so I think your worry is unnecessary. Hope this is helpful.

Yes, western blot positive for hsv1 and negative for hsv2. This was at 18 weeks.
I did a 24 week hsv 2 igg last week it was negative and at week 22 full std panel all negative except hsv1.
The only reason I think about hsv2 is the positive igm I received at week 8. I read igm is not wrong all the time.
Could my high establised hsv1 slow down my hsv2 serocoversion?
The symptoms i have are penis pain at tip, pain after urination, some tingling on buttocks, occasional irritation when penis touch underwear, NO blisters or sores in 6 months. Urologist treating me for prostatitis.

Wanted rmto add she knew about hsv1 from my November-23 tests. She told me not too worry about that because it was common. I think she is saying I am hsv2 positve based on that week 8 igm. Which has me scared. If it was true wouldn't my tests be positve by now? I am so scared...

The CDC long ago said not to do the IgM test because of the high rate of false positives. Big labs like the Mayo Clinic stopped doing it around 2018. the big labs like Quest and LabCorp do it - it's a money maker and it is appropriate for a newborn so its still offered. Clinicians that order it are very out of step with current recommendations, that's very sad indeed, to worry people like you. Anyway, you don't have HSV. You can decide what you want to believe. This is my final word on the subject, honestly
