[Question #11333] Protected oral 12.05.2024

Hello dear sirs!
I’m coming to you after 2 years. I hope you are doing well. Last night i had a protected oral contact with an escort. She gave me a fellatio. Everything took 10 min. Protected with a condom. NO vaginal contact. Only oral protected with condom for 10 minutes. So my question is what kind of STI I am in danger to get:Syphilis, HIV, gonorrhea, herpes? Do I need to get tested for anything or can I continue my sexual life with my wife. I read that the oral sex is the safest and espeviqlly if it’ s protected. So please be so kind and advise me what to do next.
Thank you very much!

Welcome to our forum. Thank you for your questions and for your confidence in our service. I’ll be glad to comment.
The exposure you describe was virtually no risk. Condoms are highly effective at preventing STI’s and oral sex is the lowest risk of all penetrative sexual exposures. If the condom was worn from beginning to end of the encounter, there is no risk and I see no need for testing. Therefore I also see no reason for you to avoid unprotected sexual activity with your regular partner.
I would not be worried in the least. EWH.

Thank you for your prompt answer.
Although your answer is reassuring and I strongly believe that it is relevant, I have terrible anxiety just thinking that I could hurt my wife.
The condom was worn from beginning to end of the encounter. After finishing, I took off my condom and wiped myself with wet napkins. The condom was normal , not cracked. Please be so kind to tell me how gonorrhea and syphilis are transmitted and if there is any possibility for them to pass through an intact and correctly worn condom.
From what I read on your forum, HIV is not transmitted through fellatio or is transmitted very very rarely.
But can hepatitis B be transmitted through fellatio?
I mention once again that the only sexual act was oral sex, protected from the beginning until the end .I saw that syphilis can also be contracted through skin-to-skin contact, ( what does skin-to-skin contact mean from the perspective of syphilis infection? ) and the only skin-to-skin contact was when she touched my legs with her legs and my abdomen with her hands. She just sat on her knees bent in front of me while I was lying on my back .No kissing or any other contact. I want to be sure no test are needed !!! Is corect?
Please, Dr. Hook answer me because I feel like I'm going crazy. It was a terrible mistake....

This is repetitive. Repeating the question will not change my response. I suggest you address your guilt and anxiety, perhaps with counseling rather than by repeating your questions. Condoms are entirely protective against gonorrhea and chlamydia which are transmitted by contact of genital mucosa with infected secretions. Hepatitis B is not transmitted by receipt of oral sex. The contact you describe does not put you at risk for syphilis.
No need for concern about STIs, no need for testing. I encourage you to move forward. EWH

Hello and thank you for your reply!
I ask you some final questions and please be so kind to answer to each of them because i think it is important both for me and for those who read on your forum:
1. if I have oral HSV 1 from childhood, can it also be transmitted genitally through oral sex? this case fellatio?
2. If the girl in question had oral HSV 2, could she transmit it through oral sex?
3. why do you say that hepatitis B is not transmitted by receiving oral sex - fellatio? I read that it can be transmitted. how sure are you that it is not transmitted, expressed as a percentage?
4.syphilis can be transmitted through oral sex- fellatio, only if there are visible ulcers or is it transmitted anyway and why do you say that in my situation does not me at risk for syphilis?
5. Regarding gonorrhea how possible is it to be transmitted it through a condom - in percentage?
6. how possible is it to get hiv by fellatio? assuming there is no condom and the person offering sex is HIV positive?
Thank you and have a nice day !!!

Final responses to additional repetitive questions
---
1. Persons who have oral HSV-1 can transmit their infection to sexual partners during oral sex.
2. Almost no one has oral HSV-2, and it is virtually never transmitted to persons through the performance of oral sex.
3. What you have read is incorrect. There are no data to indicate that hepatitis B is transmitted through oral sex.
4. Acquisition of syphilis from receipt of oral sex is very, very rare. In addition, you do not mention that your partner had a visible lesion and syphilis transmitted only through direct contact with lesions. Finally, the condom was used for the encounter you described and condoms are highly protective. I urge you not to worry about Syphilis
5. When condoms are worn throughout an encounter, they are highly protective against gonorrhea. The fact that your encounter was condom protected means that there is virtually no chance of your acquiring gonorrhea from the encounter you described. Gonorrhea is not transmitted through condoms.
6. There has never been a case of HIV acquired from receiving fellatio. Persons performing fellatio on an HIV infected person can acquire HIV very, very rarely. This is estimated to occur less than once in every 10,000 acts of fellatio with HIV infected unprotected persons. I.e., like performing oral sex on an HIV infected person daily for over 27 years.
I hope that the information I provided has been helpful. This is the final response. There should be no need for you to return to the forum. EWH.
