[Question #11398] Infidelity concern

So I am a 25 year old Canadian male. I had revived protected oral, then less than 30 seconds of protected vaginal sex(massage parlour).no condom breakage. I got tested 1 week later all negative. Each doctor I spoke to said I’m at less than 1% risk and one infection specialist said he would bet a million dollars I’m fine. would you conquer with this? I have experienced 0 symptoms. It has been 2 weeks from possible exposure and I plan on going again and being tested at the 4 week ( 1 month) mark. This was a case of infidelity and my wife will return from vacation on may 24th so I have the time to get tested.
I really regret ever doing this and would like some info on if I should be worried about syph and herpes with 0 symptoms after 2 week

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your confidence in our services.
I agree entirely with the doctors who already have advised you. Oral sex is low risk for all STDs; and when STD results from oral sex, almost always there are symptoms within a few days. The vaginal sex, being condomn protected, also was very low risk, and your negative results so far are reliable. (Presumably that included a urine gonorrhea/chlamydia test, right?) The chance of syphilis is zero for all practical purposes, and herpes nearly zero -- and if you'd been infected with herpes you would have symptoms by now. I would advise any further testing as optional, really no need. But if you do it, just have blood tests for syphilis and HIV. Definitely do not test for herpes; the tests are simply not accurate enough to be reliable.
I hope these comments are helpful. Let me know if anything isn't clear.

Dr.handsfeild I appreciate the hasty reply and everything you have said really helps with my anxiety in this situation. To answer your question yes I tested negative for urine gonorrhea/chlamydia. After 7 days I was told it’s very accurate. I have 0 herpes symptoms and I think they would have showed by now as you have said so my concerns for that are super low . When it comes to the syphilis that’s more the worry. you saying the risk is near 0 really helps. I did want to add that I have had very very dull pain in my balls and back but that has been going on for years due to being a driver. This all being said in your opinion on a 0-100% scale what would you say my chances of having anything be? Also does the fact that the duration of the vaginal was less then 30 seconds play a part in that assessment.

Your testicular pain has nothing to do with this sexual event.

As I said above, I agree with the other doctors; I also would happily bet $1 million you have no STD from the event. There is no realistic chance of syphilis for several reasons, including a near zero risk such a partner has it, plus low risk of the exposure details themselves. If somehow I were in your situation, I might decide to have a syphilis blood test 6 weeks after the event, simply for reassurance. But I would be continuing unprotected sex with my wife right now, with no worry about infecting her.

Thanks doc this has been so nice and I love the help. This site is the best. Your quick responses and bluntness are all appreciated. One doctor told me come back at the 4 week mark but with your response I will go at the 6 week mark just to clear my head. Although it seems you have done that already.
All the best and if anything comes up (as you said highly doubtful) I will message you.

OK. I'm glad to have helped. Threads are closed after four weeks or after two follow-up comments or questions, whichever comes first. But there will be no need to post the negative results of the test(s) you do at 6 weeks. (But we'll make a deal with you. Should you test positive -- which I am certain won't happen -- and want to let us know, we'll reimburse your positing fee.---

I meant to close the thread after my last comment. But yes: a negative test 1 week after exposure is reliable and conclusive.
Best wishes and stay safe.
