[Question #11404] Oral HIV Risk

Hi Drs.
I am following up regarding my long duration bj. I think I mixed up login info so pardon me. I may have picked up Gonorrhea as I see some white discharge. My question about my long blowjob is this: if my partner was infected with HIV (which she told me she wasn’t), does her having and giving me another STD increase my risk for HIV? Am I unnecessarily concerned or was my behavior something that could lead to oral to penile?

I do not see your prior question and so I cannot provide context since I cannot locate your prior question however, if you acquired gonorrhea or NGU from receipt of oral sex, it would not change your risk for acquisition for HIV in the unlikely circumstance that your partner had untreated HIV.  There would still be no risk fr HIV.

If you have a discharge, I recommend that you seek evaluation.  EWH

Thanks Dr. Hook
This was the original question but I lost my login information:

Question #11392

The original context was that I received a blowjob lasting 2 hours. The CSW told me she was clean and last check for HIV in Feb. she will be doing a full panel tomorrow and I am going to visit the clinic as well to get checked. Since I know it’s too soon for HIV testing, I am trying to understand if I am at risk and if I should refrain from sexual relations with my partner once the other issues clear up. I wasn’t sure if HIV is a risk in this scenario and that’s what I am trying to clarify.

Thanks for the additional information..  as I indicated above, there is no known risk for acquisition of HIV in the circumstance that you describe even if your penile discharge is due to an STI. I presume you were getting to the cause of your possible discharge. EWH.---

Understood on that point. I know the discharge is likely due to gonorrhea or NGU. I was alluding to whether the CSW having those makes the transmission of HIV more likely given that HIV is more readily transmitted in the presence of another STI. I was seeking reassurance that this would not be a factor which would lead to oral to penile transmission presuming she was positive (which she claims she’s not). I am at the walk in now for treatment for my other issue, but I wanted to know the risk that I would need to wait several weeks post antibiotics in case I truly need an HIV test too or is this something you wouldn’t bother with/ resume relations with a regular partner

As I said above ( twice) even with having acquired NGU or Gonorrhea, there is no known risk of HIV from your prolonged receipt of oral sex.  That answer will not change with repeated asking.  EWH---
