[Question #11414] Testing Window Clarification
14 months ago
|
Hi Doctors,
I asked a question back in November and have a very similar question. I have had unprotected sex with a work colleague (multiple times on same night). She is married.
I tested negative for Chlamydia, Ghonnoreah, Mycoplasma Genitalium & Trich.
These tests were 6 days post this unprotected sex so wanted to confirm that is long enough. What i’ve read online suggests 5 days enough for Chlamydia and M. Gen.
Would be great if you could confirm my understanding is correct.
Thank you!

Welcome back to the forum. I’ll be glad to come at. Your testing at five days will provide you within entirely reliable results for gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas, and M. genitalium. You can be confident in the results and no further testing is needed.EWH---

if the body does not produce antibodies for any reason, does it happen that an antigen+antibody blood test is falsely negative after 9 months from taking the risk?
is there anything that affects these blood tests for hiv

Unless you have advanced cancer or some other serious illness, your body will always produce antibodies. In addition, since the antigen part of the test is part of the virus itself, in the hypothetical situation in which antibodies were not produced, the test would still give positive results based on detection of HIV antigen. HIV tests are highly reliable and their performance and at 9 months such tests would always be positive. I urge you to believe your results. EWH
