[Question #11427] CPPS?

Hello doctors,
Unprotected oral on me by TS CSW (I’m 38 and male).
I have a history of urological problems, such as CPPS (diagnosis after cystoscopy and ultrasound found no significant findings).
At the time of exposure my regular symptoms of mild dysuria and groin pain were starting. They’ve since developed into occasional discomfort during urination and a burning sensation after urination. Testicular aching, mostly on the left, but can present on the right from time to time. No notable discharge out of the normal occasional secretions. The pain has progressed to the base of my penis, and the testicular pain is more prominent (but not tender nor swollen).
Seen GP, urinalysis normal, and prescribed doxycycline (apparently useful for inflammation of prostate) for 2 weeks which I have finished and the symptoms have not abated, and didn’t improve during the course. And given referral back to urologist.
What are your thoughts/recommendations.

Welcome to the Forum.  Thanks for your clear description of your situation.  I think the title of your post - CPPS?- reflects your own analysis and my sense is that it is on target.  Symptoms of STIs do not come and go in the manner you describe and the absence of change with two weeks of doxycycline provides further evidence that this is not an infectious process.  on the other hand, your symptoms are consistent with CPPS and CPPS is commonly a recurring problem.  I suspect that may be hat is going on and suggest that you address it as you have before.  Perhaps discussing this with your urologist will be helpful.  As a rule generalists are unfamiliar with CPPS and its management.

I hope this perspective, largely confirming the conclusions it appears you have already arrived at is helpful.  EWH
