[Question #11429] Unprotected Oral STD Scare

Hello, I'm dealing with an STD scare. I received unprotected oral on May 5th from a male I didn't know. I immediately regretted it, got really nervous, and used hand sanitizer and soap to "clean" myself. A couple of days later, I felt the urge to pee a lot, and my penis/urethra felt irritated. My anxiety was terrible, I had no appetite, and my mouth was constantly dry. I got a urine test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea the next day at Urgent Care, but I knew it was too soon for accurate results. The test came back negative, and I felt relieved with less irritation and urge to urinate. On day 15, I went for another urine test, and the symptoms intensified along with my anxiety. The results were negative for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Trich, and my symptoms subsided.Last Wednesday, on day 24, I got a urine and blood test from my PCP. So far, HIV and syphilis came back negative, but I'm still waiting on Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Trich results. The irritation has intensified again, and my anxiety is high. I don't have other symptoms like discharge or redness. Today is 30 days since exposure. Is the 15-day urine test conclusive for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Trich? This is the worst feeling, and I'm worried about psychosomatic symptoms or other conditions like prostatitis.

Welcome to the forum. But wow! How much evidence do you need that you have no STD from the exposure described??? At the same time, you seem actually understand the reason for your symptoms with statements like "I'm worried about psychosomatic symptoms", "symptoms intensified along with my anxiety", and "irritation has intensified again, and my anxiety is high". All your words, not mine!
As you know intellectually, if not emotionally, you had a near zero risk sexual exposure (oral sex is very low risk!) and NONE of your symptoms fits with any STD. They are, however, perfectly typical of genitally focused anxiety following regretted sexual exposures; I could use your question as an excellent educational exercise for medical students. In addition, you had excellent, accurate STD tests, all of which were negative. And some infections you mentioned are not possible from oral sex, such as trichomonas.
Stop testing, do your best to stop worrying, and consider professional counseling if you cannot. Good luck to you.

So to confirm 15 days is conclusive? Am I safe to resume intercourse? Could I have damaged my urethra from the hand sanitizer? UTI? Or is it all in my head? NGU, inflammation of the urethra? P rostatitis? Sorry Ive been going down the rabbit hole on Reddit for the last month.

This forum addresses STDs, and prostatitis is not an STD issue; we do not get into non-STD genital health problems. Certainly you have no "inflammation of the urethra". You may have chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS), which often is called "nonspecific prostatitis", but has nothing to do with the prostate gland. It is an anxiety/emotional health problem. (Google CPPS -- spelled out -- for more information).

Did you even read my reply above??? Whether you test at 15, 30, 400, or 1000 days, the results will have nothing to do with your symptoms. Trust me on this: you have no STD. And for goodness' sake, stay off Reddit and the internet. "Doctor Google" is extraordinarily unhelpful and not worth your time and energies.

I just got my 24 day results back and everything came back negative. I should have came here from Day 1. You are a lifesaver! Thank you!

Thanks for the thanks; I'm glad to have helped. I hope you now have a better understanding of STD risk and testing! Best wishes and stay safe.---
