[Question #11450] Concern on HIV Risk - Need Help Please!

Dear Doctors,
On Monday, 27 May 2024, I met an old friend of mine as she wanted to talk. Somehow we ended up having an intimate relationship. No penetration was involved, but I am having minor sore throat/dry throat without pain, without fever and overly worried if I may have caught HIV. We had deep kissing/french kissing, genital rubbing (naked) - basically a hug (I topped) and rubbing gently for approximately 10 minutes. After a while we showered together, during when she attempted to pull my penis and it touched her clitoris and vulva. I pushed back. She confirmed there was no penetration as she got pissed when I pushed back. As far as I can recall she was not wet or having any discharge. I am uncircumcised and there was no condom use. I had no other relationship since 2015, other than with my wife. However, I am not sure of her relationship status - she claims only her husband and 8 years ago her x boyfriend.

Welcome to our forum. Thank you for your questions. I’ll be glad to comment. You do not know that your partner has HIV and in fact, it is statistically unlikely that she does.
Even if she does, HIV is only sexually transmitted when penetration occurs. Deep kissing, including exchange of saliva, body, rubbing, and mutual masturbation when partners get each other’s genital secretions on each other in the absence of penetration are all no risk sexual activities.
--- None of the activities should describe you any risk whatsoever for HIV. For these reasons I see no reason for concern and no scientific or medical indication for testing. Please don’t worry. EWH.

Dear Doctor,
Thank you for your feedback and assurance. If you don't mind, I do have some follow up questions as below, for which I will appreciate if you can assist me with:
- I forgot to mention that I have a cavity on a molar on my upper row of teeth and another molar is broken till the gum surface. There is however no bleeding or pain. Does this pose any risk for HIV or STD?
- I also have googled a fair bit (which I shouldn't have and come here directly) and there are mixed feedback on risks associated with genital rubbing. My penis tip definitely touched her clitoris and the opening of vagina as she was trying to force it in, at times I doubt if it was a dip, but pretty sure it cannot be as I was aggressive in pushing back. Maybe it is my mind playing with me on this. This contact only happened in the shower while standing too. What potential STD risks this may have if HIV may not be the risk to worry upon?
- I happen to hear there are risks for other STDs like HPV and Herpes for genital rubbing. If my skin is intact with no sores or lesion and even her skin is intact, how does these STDs spread?
- She also mentioned to me that about a month ago she had vaginal infection and was treated. Will this be a risk for me to worry upon?
- Can I confirm that testing is not required and I can move on with my life?

Straight to your follow-ups which in no way change the bottom line- this was a no risk event.
I forgot to mention that I have a cavity on a molar on my upper row of teeth and another molar is broken till the gum surface. There is however no bleeding or pain. Does this pose any risk for HIV or STD. No, dental or gum disease does not change the fact that this was a no risk event.
I also have googled a fair bit (which I shouldn't have and come here directly) and there are mixed feedback on risks associated with genital rubbing. The internet is misleading you. This was a no risk event
I happen to hear there are risks for other STDs like HPV and Herpes for genital rubbing. If my skin is intact with no sores or lesion and even her skin is intact, how does these STDs spread? See earlier responses. No risk means no risk, including for herpes and syphilis
She also mentioned to me that about a month ago she had vaginal infection and was treated. Will this be a risk for me to worry upon? No
Can I confirm that testing is not required and I can move on with my life? Correct

Thank you doctor for additional clarity. I appreciate it.
This is my last follow up on this matter, just to close the loop - I got a mild fever of 38 degrees but still no throat pain, runny nose. Merely post nasal drip, fatigue and mild sore throat with fever of 38 degrees - is this a cause for concern - am assuming no given my exposure and your feedback.
Thanks.

Thank you for the additional information. I agree with your assessment and my assessment is unchanged. I would not be concerned.
As you know, this completes this thread, which will not be closed. Take care. Please don’t worry. EWH.
