Hi Doctors happy Father's Day! So I am worried I met a women on tinder and we made out for 10 minuets and humped with clothes on.

Can I get hiv in any of these circumstances if I got cut on lip and bleeding gums?

Also for peace of mind how soon would the nat test  be conclusive? Cdc say 12-33 days but I don't want to wait 33 days of worrying

Welcome to our Forum.  Thanks for your questions.  I'll be glad to comment and hope that my assurances that the activities that you describe represent no risk for any STI whatsoever.

By way of background, let me remind you that most people, even those with multiple sex partners do not have STIs. Thus it is unlikely that your partner had any STI.  Even if she did however There is absolutely NO RISK for any STI from kissing or humping (the medical term is frottage),  This is true even if there was deep kissing involved and even if your clothing got wet with genital secretions- still no risk at all.  This is true even with a cut on your lip, with bleeding gums and, if present, gum disease- still no risk.

Testing would be a waste of time and resources.  On the other hand, testing is always a personal choice and if a negative test would be reassuring to you, I understand.  HIB RNA PCR (NAT) tests provide conclusive results any time more than 11 days after an exposure.  The CDC's recommendations are conservative.

I hope this information is helpful  I am completely confident that you are at no risk for HIV or other STIs from the activities you describe.  EWH

Ok doctor I understand however just for peace of mind how soon will the nat test be 98%? If the window period is 10-33 days. What day would be best to take it for 98%!

As I said above - "HIV RNA PCR (NAT) tests provide conclusive results any time more than 11 days after an exposure.  The CDC's recommendations are conservative"   In other words, if you test any time more than 11 days after your encounter the results will be completely (100%) conclusive.  The CDC's window period is overly conservative.  EWH---

Ty doctor last question since it says I get 2 follow up replies. The 4th generation would be effective at 4 weeks or sooner?

And after this reply ty for all your help I really appreciate you

A 4th generation, combination HIV antigen/antibody test would detect about 99% of recent HIV infections at 4 weeks bot is not 100% conclusive until 6 weeks following an exposure.

As you know, this will complete this thread.  I think you are worrying entirely too much for the no risk exposure you have described.  Take care.  Please don’t worry.  EWH
