[Question #11501] Follow-up #11477

Hello doctors follow up from prev. Post . I understand the guidelines of this forum so if you feel I am violating them I completely understand and you don’t need to respond. But my question is in regards to what Dr Hook explained as a no risk event. Given that I now have covid it kind of sent me spiraling a little bit. I asked Dr hook and he said there is a low risk chance of getting a false positive on an oraquick at home test while presently having Covid.

did some more research and I saw a study that stated a man with acute hiv tested repeatedly positive for covid. Given my exposure and symptoms timeline is there any way or possibility this could be a false positive for Covid and the symptoms I am experiencing can be from acute HIV infection? I tried to inform myself with previous posts on the forum, but would enjoy the clarification first hand it seems what I found was that I wouldn’t have symptoms this fast (3-5 days from exposure) nor would it be entirely possibly to acquire HIV from the above described exposure (receptive oral with a condom).  My concerns are I was only person to get Covid on the trip and I don’t want to infect my girlfriend with anything

As you surmised, this indeed abuses your forum privileges. I reviewed your just-completed discussion with Dr. Hook as well as your previous threads on the forum. Repeated questions of the same type are prohibited, especially when obviously anxiety driven. That you were the only person to get covid in this situation says nothing about your HIV risks, and we don't advise on infection prevention for problems other than HIV and other STDs. Neither HIV nor covid interferes with the reliability of test results for the other -- i.e. your test results for either or both infections are reliable within their own limitations on time since exposure (window period). Further, as has been the theme of your four previous questions on the forum up til now, you are irrationally concerned by another exposure that cannot possibly result in HIV transmission.

You also have been advised about the forum policy that excessive anxiety driven questions on the same topic are not permitted, and are subject to deletion without reply and without refund of the posting fee. The policy is based on compassion, not criticism, and is intended to reduce temptations to keep paying for questions with obvious answers. In addition, experience shows that continued answers tend to prolong users' anxieties rather than reducing them. Finally, such questions have little educational value for other users, one of the forum's main purposes. Thanks for your understanding.

This thread is now closed to further discussion. Future similar questions will simply be deleted without reply. My only additional advice is that you consider professional counseling to deal with your anxieties around sexual choices and elevated fears about obviously safe events. Best wishes to you.
